''The Scar'' () is a 1976 Polish film written and directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski and starring Franciszek Pieczka. Filmed on location in Olechów, Poland, the film is about a man put in charge of the construction of a large chemical factory in his home town in the face of strong opposition from the townspeople who are concerned with their short-term needs. The film received the Polish Film Festival Special Jury Prize (Krzysztof Kieslowski) and Best Actor Award (Franciszek Pieczka) in 1976. ''The Scar'' was Krzysztof Kieślowski's second feature film, but the first to be released directly into theaters. Plot After discussions and dishonest negotiations, a decision is made as to where a large new chemical factory is to be built. Krzysztof Kieślowski (, 27 June 1941 – 14 March 1996) was a Polish film director and screenwriter. Agnieszka Holland
Agnieszka Holland (; born 28 November 1948) is a Polish film and television director and screenwriter, best known for her cultural and political contributions to Polish cinema. She began her career as an assistant to directors Krzysztof Zanussi and Andrzej Wajda, and emigrated to France shortly before the 1981 imposition of the martial law in Poland. Asja Łamtiugina (8 November 1940 – 31 March 2023) was a Polish actress and stage director. Life and career Born in Grodno, Łamtiugina made her professional debut in 1964, at the Osterwa Theatre in Gorzów Wielkopolski. Since then she started an intense stage activity, also performing in films and on television and working with major Polish directors such as Krzysztof Kieślowski, Andrzej Wajda, and Krzysztof Zanussi. In 1995 she made her debut as a stage director, directing her own play ''Pies''. Her last role was in 2011, as a guest star in three episodes of the soap opera ''Na Wspólnej''. Jerzy Oskar Stuhr (; 18 April 1947 – 9 July 2024) was a Polish film actor, film and theatre actor. Franciszek Maksymilian Pieczka (18 January 1928 – 23 September 2022) was a Polish actor. A graduate of the National Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw (1954), he first made his debut in the theatre in Jelenia Góra. He won the award for Best Actor at the Polish Film Festival in 1976 for '' The Scar''. In 2015, he was awarded the Polish Academy Life Achievement Award.
