Anna Bligh
Anna Maria Bligh (born 14 July 1960) is an Australian lobbyist and former politician who served as the 37th Premier of Queensland, in office from 2007 to 2012 as leader of the Queensland Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), Labor Party. She was the first woman to hold either position. In 2017, she was appointed CEO of the Australian Banking Association. Bligh was born in Warwick, Queensland, and studied at the University of Queensland. Before entering politics she worked for various community organisations. Bligh entered the Queensland Legislative Assembly at the 1995 Queensland state election, 1995 state election, winning the seat of Electoral district of South Brisbane, South Brisbane. Edward Bligh, 5th Earl Of Darnley
Edward Bligh, 5th Earl of Darnley, FRS (25 February 1795 – 12 February 1835), styled Lord Clifton until 1831, lord of the Manor of Cobham, Kent, was a British peer and politician. Background Darnley was the second but eldest surviving son of John Bligh, 4th Earl of Darnley, and Elizabeth Brownlow, 3rd daughter of the Rt Hon. William Brownlow. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, matriculating on 22 October 1812, where he took degrees of Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1816, proceeding Master of Arts (MA) in 1819. Political career Darnley was returned to the House of Commons representing Canterbury in 1818, a seat he held until 1830 for the Whig Party. Bligh Reef
Bligh Reef, sometimes known as Bligh Island Reef, is a reef off the coast of Bligh Island in Prince William Sound, Alaska. This was the location of the 1989 ''Exxon Valdez'' oil spill. After the incident, 33 US Code § 2733 mandated the operation of an automated navigation light to prevent future collisions with the reef. Despite these efforts the tug ''Pathfinder'' ran aground on Bligh Reef on Dec 24, 2009, rupturing its tanks and spilling diesel fuel. Bligh Reef is also where Alaska Steamship Company's '' Olympia'' ran aground in 1910. Bligh Reef serves as a fishing ground for halibut and a harvesting area for shrimp. The nearest town is Tatitlek, which lies to the northeast. In 1789 the English Royal Navy Cutter ''Bounty'' commanded by Lieutenant William Bligh was overtaken by 18 crew led by Master's Mate Fletcher Christian in what has been named the " Mutiny on the Bounty." The area known as the Bligh Water is the body of water (approximately 9500 km2 in extent) in the western Fiji islands through which Bligh sailed his 7 m (23 ft) launch during his 3,618-mile (5823 km) journey from Tofua to the Dutch port of Timor. Bligh John Madris (born February 29, 1996) is an American-Palauan professional baseball outfielder in the Detroit Tigers organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros.
