Blessed Madonna
Marea Renee Stamper (born October 22, 1977), better known by her stage name the Blessed Madonna (formerly the Black Madonna), is an American DJ, producer and musician. ''Mixmag'' named her the DJ of the year in 2016. She founded her own record label called We Still Believe. Musical career A high-school dropout who was bullied for her gender-nonconforming appearance, Stamper started her career in the late 1990s, selling mixtapes by underground DJs at raves. Stamper studied English at the University of Louisville and was the general manager for the college radio station. In 2013, she released her EP ''Lady of Sorrows''. In 2014, she released two singles, “Stay” and “Exodus”. On November 11, 2016, she released the single “He Is the Voice I Hear” at Gramaphone Records in Chicago, Illinois. Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets
Victoria Park (known colloquially as Vicky Park or the People's Park) is a park in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London, England. It is the largest park in Tower Hamlets and one of London's most visited green spaces with approximately 9 million visitors each year. The park spans of open space and opened to the public in 1845. Mixtape
In the modern music industry, a mixtape is a musical project, typically with looser constraints than that of an album or extended play. Unlike the traditional album or extended play, mixtapes are labeled as laid-back projects that allow artists more creative freedom and less commercial pressure. The term has significantly increased in popularity over the years due to high-profile artists marketing their projects as such. Prior to the decline of physical media, mixtapes were defined as homemade compilations of music played through a cassette tape, Compact disc, CD, or digital playlist and became significant in Hip hop (culture), hip-hop culture. The songs were typically beatmatching, beatmatched and consisted of seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits. The term ''Black Madonna'' or ''Black Virgin'' tends to refer to statues or paintings in Western Christendom of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus, where both figures are depicted with dark skin. Turntablist
Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer. The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Turntablists typically manipulate records on a turntable by moving the record with their hand to cue the stylus to exact points on a record, and by touching or moving the platter or record to stop, slow down, speed up or, spin the record backwards, or moving the turntable platter back and forth (the popular rhythmic "scratching" effect which is a key part of hip hop music), all while using a DJ mixer's cross-fader control and the mixer's gain and equalization controls to adjust the sound and level of each turntable.
