Blender (Collective Soul Album)
''Blender'' is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Collective Soul released in 2000. This was their final album for Atlantic Records and also their least successful with the label. Release "Why, Pt. 2" is the first single from released on October 2000 to promote ''Blender''. Written by singer/guitarist Ed Roland, the song did not chart on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, but did reach No. 2 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The "Pt. 2" in the title refers to an earlier track by the band, "Why", which was initially created during the band's ''Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid'' era, and was used as a b-side to the single "Breathe" in 1994. The second single, "Vent", was released in 2000. It was originally titled "Prick", but was changed to "Vent" due to concern from the band's record label, Atlantic Records. Collective Soul
Collective Soul is an American rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, the group consists of the brothers Ed (lead vocalist) and Dean Roland (rhythm guitarist), Will Turpin (bassist), Johnny Rabb (drummer), and Jesse Triplett (lead guitarist). Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the Roland brothers, bassist David Neal, guitarist Ross Childress, and drummer Shane Evans. Collective Soul released their '' Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid'' album on the independent label Rising Storm Records in 1993. The band went from obscurity to popularity that year after the album's lead single " Shine" received regional radio play. Around the same time, Turpin replaced Neal on bass. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Its first edition was published in 1979 and its last in 2004. First edition (1979) ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'' was the first edition of what would later become ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide''. Morphine (band)
Morphine was an American rock band formed by Mark Sandman, Dana Colley, and Jerome Deupree in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1989. Drummer Billy Conway replaced Deupree as the band's live drummer in 1991. Deupree recorded the album ''Cure For Pain'', with the exception of the title track which was recorded by Conway, before being permanently replaced by Conway in 1993. Both drummers appeared together during a 15 date US tour in March 1999. After five successful albums and extensive touring, they disbanded after lead vocalist Sandman died of a heart attack onstage in Palestrina, Italy, on July 3, 1999 at the Nel Nome Del Rock Festival. Mark Sandman
Mark Sandman (September 24, 1952 – July 3, 1999) was an American singer, songwriter, musical instrument inventor, multi-instrumentalist and comic writer. Sandman possessed a distinctive, deep bass-baritone voice and a mysterious demeanour. He was an indie rock icon and longtime fixture in the Boston/Cambridge music scene, best known as the lead singer and slide bass player of the band Morphine. Sandman was also a member of the blues-rock band Treat Her Right and founder of Hi-n-Dry, a recording studio and independent record label. On July 3, 1999, he suffered a heart attack during a concert in Italy and died instantly. ''Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Collective Soul, it was originally released on an indie label in Atlanta called Rising Storm Records in 1993, Collective Soul later signed on with Atlantic Records and the album was rereleased in 1994 under the Atlantic label. The track " Shine" gained the band attention thanks to college radio. The cover art is a modified version of an advertising image from the 19th century, with the text on the sign changed.
