Blanch Lyon Pursuivant
Blanche Lyon Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary (sometimes Blanch Lyon) was an England, English office of arms created during the reign of King Edward IV. The title was then taken from the white lion of the Mortimer Earl of March, Earls of March, one of King Edward's favourite Royal badges of England, royal badges. The title lapsed under Henry VII of England, Henry VII, but it was revived in 1537. Its status was then anomalous, for although John James was described as 'Our pursuivant' and was granted a salary by the Crown, he was expressly said to be with the Duke of Norfolk and in the College of Arms he was counted as an extraordinary. The title in this case clearly refers to the white lion rampant, which was at once arms, crest and badge of the House of Mowbray and which, with a crown about its neck, is now one of the Duke of Norfolk's supporters. Isaac Heard
Sir Isaac Heard ( 1730 – 29 April 1822) was a British officer of arms who served as appointed Garter Principal King of Arms, from 1784 until his death in 1822 the senior Officer of Arms of the College of Arms in London. In this role, he oversaw several notable cases and also officiated at all the funerals of the Royal family. A native of Devon, Heard had a brief career in the Navy, before switching careers at age 29, when he became the Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary. He would go on to hold the posts of Lancaster Herald of Arms in Ordinary, Norroy King of Arms and Brunswick Herald. Heard was knighted in the Order of the Garter in 1786. Sir Edward Walker (1611 – February 1677) was an officer of arms and antiquarian who served as Garter King of Arms. Early life Walker was born in 1611 at Roobers in Nether Stowey, Somerset, and entered the household of the great Earl Marshal Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel, Thomas Howard in 1633. John von Sonntag de Havilland (17 October 1826 – 18 September 1886) was an officer of arms at the College of Arms in London during the 19th century. He is notable for being one of only two English officers of arms to have been born in the United States of America ( Blanche Lyon Pursuivant Extraordinary Alexander Ochterlony, appointed in 1784, was the other). Personal life John de Havilland was born on 17 October 1826, probably near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
