Blakstad, Aust-Agder
Blakstad or Blakstad-Osedalen is a village which is also the administrative centre of the municipality of Froland in Agder county, Norway. It is located along the river Nidelva, about northwest of the town of Arendal (where many residents of Blakstad work and shop). The small village of Froland lies about to the north, on the west side of the river, and that is where Froland Church is located. Originally, Blakstad was the village on the eastern shore of the river and the village of Osedalen was located on the western side of the river. Over the years, the two villages grew together and now form one large village. The village has a population (2019) of 3,241 and a population density of . The Arendalsbanen railway line, a branch of the Sørlandsbanen railway line stops at the Blakstad Station. Norwegian County Road 408
Norwegian county road 408 (Fylkesvei 408 or Fv408) is a long Norwegian county road which runs between the villages of Blakstad, Aust-Agder, Blakstad in Froland municipality and Rykene in Arendal municipality. The road roughly follows the river Nidelva (Aust-Agder), Nidelva the whole way. Prior to 2010, this was a Norwegian national road, but in the transportation reforms that year, the road was transferred to county control. The road begins in the village of Blakstad, Aust-Agder, Blakstad in Froland municipality. In Froland, the road is called ''Messelveien''. The road begins at a junction with Norwegian County Road 42 and it runs south along the Arendalsbanen railway line. After about , the road enters Arendal municipality where it is also known as the ''Jernbaneveien'' (). Arendalsbanen
The Arendal Line () is a long railway line between Arendal and Simonstad in Norway. At Nelaug, north of Arendal, the line intersects with the Sørland Line. The southern section is electrified and provides a feeder passenger service. The line originally ran north from Arendal to Treungen and the lake Nisser, but the upper-most part has been removed. The line is owned by the Bane NOR and operated by Go-Ahead Norge using Class 69 trains. Originally named the Arendal–Åmli Line, the first part of the line, from Arendal to Froland, opened on 23 November 1908. The line was extended to Åmli on 17 December 1910 and to Treungen on 14 December 1913, and was named the Arendal–Treungen Line. Froland Church
Froland Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Froland Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Froland. It is one of the two churches for the Froland parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1718 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 295 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the parish date back to the year 1399 and the earliest existing records of the church are from 1425 as the "Frodelands Sogn i Nidardal", however the church was likely founded during the late 13th or early 14th century (before the Black Death in Norway).
