Blakiston Baronets
There have been three baronetcies created for members of the Blakiston family of Blakiston, County Durham, two in the Baronetage of England and one in the Baronetage of Great Britain. One creation is extant as of 2008. The Blakiston Baronetcy, of the manor of Blakiston in the parish of Norton in the Bishopric of Durham, was created in the Baronetage of England on 27 May 1615 for Thomas Blakiston. He had no sons and consequently the title became extinct on his death in 1630. The Blakiston baronetcy, of Gibside in the Bishopric of Durham, was created in the Baronetage of England on 30 July 1642 for Sir Ralph Blakiston, son of Sir William Blakiston Kt. (1562–1641). Ralph was a third cousin of Sir Thomas (mentioned above). His son Sir William, the second Baronet, died childless in 1692 and was succeeded by his younger brother Sir Francis, the third Baronet. Blakiston, South Australia
Blakiston is a town in the Australian state of South Australia. The town is located approximately south-east of the state capital of Adelaide, adjacent to the Princes Highway. Its postal code is 5250 – though it has no post office. Post is delivered to the neighbouring town of Littlehampton which shares the post code. The town and surrounding countryside, a mixture of pastureland and eucalypt forest, make up around 16 square kilometres. At th2021 census the locality of Blakiston had a population of 377 and a median age of 46. There are no signs or markers to indicate that Blakiston is separate from nearby Littlehampton, and they are increasingly indistinguishable as housing developments encroach. Mount Blakiston
Mount Blakiston is a mountain in the southwestern corner of Alberta, Canada and the highest point within Waterton Lakes National Park. The mountain is situated in the Clark Range, north of Lineham Creek and south of Blakiston Creek. Blakiston's closest neighbours include Mount Hawkins directly to the west along a connecting ridge and Mount Lineham to the south. The mountain was named in 1858 for Thomas Blakiston, a member of the Palliser Expedition. The Lineham Creek hiking trail passes along the foot of the southern slopes of the mountain and for capable scramblers, Blakiston's rubbly but steep southern slopes provide a suitable line of ascent. An ascent in 1942 by J. Gibson and G. Williams found an unmarked cairn on the summit so the first ascent party is unknown.
