Blake Burke
Blake William Burke (born June 11, 2003) is an American professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Amateur career Burke grew up in Brentwood, California and attended De La Salle High School in Concord, California. He batted .554 with 32 RBI as a senior. Burke committed to play college baseball at the University of Tennessee. Burke batted .326 during his freshman season with the Tennessee Volunteers and set a freshman record with 14 home runs. After the season, he played summer collegiate baseball for the Healdsburg Prune Packers of the California Collegiate League. Burke hit .280 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI as a sophomore. During his junior season he set a Tennessee record with a 31-game hitting streak. A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. Summer Collegiate Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues". Collegiate summer leagues allow college baseball players the ability to compete using professional rules and equipment, giving them experience and allowing professional scouts the opportunity to observe players under such conditions.
