Herbert Blaize
Herbert Augustus Blaize PC (26 February 1918 – 19 December 1989) was a Grenadian politician and leader of the Grenada National Party. When Grenada was still a British Crown Colony he served as the first Chief Minister from 1960 to 1961, and again from 1962 to 1967. He became the first Premier of the autonomous Associated State of Grenada briefly in 1967. In the first elections following the 1983 coups and the American-led invasion of Grenada, he served as Prime Minister from 1984 until his death in 1989. Early years Blaize was born in the island of Carriacou, which along with the island of Petite Martinique is a part of Grenada. He moved to Aruba where he worked many years in the oil refinery of the Lago Oil and Transport Company. Immodesty Blaize
Immodesty Blaize (born Kelly Fletcher in Hitchin, Hertfordshire) is an English burlesque dancer who performs internationally. She was crowned Reigning Queen of Burlesque in June 2007 at the Las Vegas Burlesque Hall of Fame formerly known as Exotic World. Her stage name is an allusion to the character Modesty Blaise. Rise to fame Immodesty has been performing burlesque internationally since 1999. Originally she performed in addition to her film day job. She worked in film, first as a storyboard artist, then progressing to producing and eventually getting her break directing. She won an EVCOM award for directing 10 short films for the Nobel Prizes sponsored by CNN and Cisco systems. By night she moonlighted, performing burlesque striptease, until she chose to perform and produce shows full-time. Richard Beale Blaize
Richard Beale Blaize (November 22, 1845 – September 21, 1904) was a Nigerian-Sierra Leonean businessman, newspaper publisher, financier, and black nationalist of Sierra Leonean and Nigerian heritage. Early life Richard Olamilege Blaize was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to a Creole family of emancipated slaves of Yoruba origin. His parents were Ojelabi Olapajuokun (who later took the name John Blaize) and Maria Blaize. At an early age, he attended a mission school and was nurtured in the Christian way. He started work as an apprentice for a printer in Freetown but soon left the country for the Lagos Colony in 1862. Career in business and political activism Business After arriving Lagos in 1862, Blaize worked as a printer for Robert Campbell, editor of Anglo-American.
