Sammy Blais
Samuel "Sammy" Blais (born June 17, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round, 176th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He played junior ice hockey with Trois-Rivières Estacades and Lévis Commandeurs in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League (QMAAA) before entering the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He split his time between the Commandeurs and the Victoriaville Tigres before being selected 176th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Blais spent three seasons in the QMJHL, the latter portion with the Charlottetown Islanders, before making his professional debut with the Chicago Wolves during the 2016–17 season. He appeared on the reality show cooking show ''Top Chef'', and is known for his take on classic American cuisine. Marie-Claire Blais (5 October 1939 – 30 November 2021) was a Canadian writer, novelist, poet, and playwright from the province of Québec. In a career spanning seventy years, she wrote novels, plays, collections of poetry and fiction, newspaper articles, radio dramas, and scripts for television. She was a four-time recipient of the Governor General’s literary prize for French-Canadian literature, and was also a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship for creative arts. François Blais ( – ) was a Canadian writer from Quebec who received the 2020 Governor General's Award for French-language children's literature for his novel '' Lac Adélard''. Biography François Blais was born in 1973 in the small town of Grand-Mère in the Mauricie region of Quebec. He grew up in a house with a library filled with titles like Tintin, Bob Morane, and books from the Countess of Ségur. He published his first novel, ''Iphigénie en Haute-Ville'' at the age of 32 in 2006, which quickly became a finalist for several literary prizes, namely the Prix des libraires du Québec, the Prix France-Québec and the Prix Senghor de la création littéraire. Pierre Blais (born December 30, 1948) is a Canadian jurist and former politician and Cabinet minister. He also served as the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Appeal until his retirement in June 2014. On May 1, 2015, Blais was appointed as chairman of the Security Intelligence Review Committee by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, replacing Interim Chair Deborah Grey who was stepping down from the Committee. Aristide Blais (October 18, 1875 – November 10, 1964) was a Canadian physician and Senator. Early life Blais was born on October 18, 1875, in Berthier, Quebec, to Narcisse Blais and Philomène Buteau. He attended Laval University earning a Bachelor of Science and medical degree in 1899. Blais did two years of post-graduate medical studies in Paris. He married Antoinette Bolduc on April 9, 1903, and they had one daughter together. He later married Marie Moriarty and they also had one daughter together. Jon Blais (August 30, 1971 – May 27, 2007), also known as Blazeman, was an American triathlete noted for his fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and is the namesake of the Blazeman Foundation.(obituary) Battle with ALS Born and raised in Seekonk, Massachusetts, Blais moved to San Diego, California because of its reputation as a triathlon mecca and to work with learning disabled and at risk students.
