Altoona is a city in Blair County, Pennsylvania. It is the principal city of the Altoona Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The population was 43,963 at the time of the 2020 Census, making it the eighteenth most populous city in Pennsylvania. Allegheny Township is a township in Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,585 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Altoona, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Allegheny Township is located in western Blair County. It is bordered by the city of Altoona and Logan Township to the north, Frankstown Township to the east, the boroughs of Hollidaysburg and Duncansville as well as Blair Township to the southeast, Freedom Township at Allegheny Township's southernmost point, and Juniata Township to the southwest. The western border is the Blair County–Cambria County line, with Cresson and Gallitzin townships directly bordering. Interstate 99 (I-99) is an Interstate Highway in the United States with two segments: one located in central Pennsylvania, and the other in southern New York. The southern terminus of the route is near exit 146 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike ( I-70/ I-76) north of Bedford, where the road continues south as U.S. Route 220 (US 220). The northern terminus of the Pennsylvania segment is near exit 161 of I-80 near Bellefonte. The New York segment follows US 15 from the Pennsylvania–New York border to an interchange with I-86 in Corning. Pennsylvania Route 36 (PA 36) is a long state highway located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 26 near the Hopewell Township community of Yellow Creek.
