Blaffer Art Museum
Blaffer Art Museum is a non-collecting contemporary art museum located in the Arts District of the University of Houston campus. Housed in the university’s Fine Arts Building, it is part of the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. It was founded in 1973 and has won several awards, including the Coming Up Taller Award as part of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. The museum presents focus and major monographic and group exhibitions of national and international contemporary artists as well as artwork by University of Houston School of Art students. Chantal Akerman
Chantal Anne Akerman (; 6 June 19505 October 2015) was a Belgian film director, screenwriter, artist, and film professor at the City College of New York. Akerman is best known for her films (1974), (1975), and '' News from Home'' (1976). The second of these was ranked the greatest film of all time in '' Sight & Sound'' magazine's 2022 "Greatest Films of All Time" critics poll, making her the first woman to top the poll. Analia Saban
Analia Saban (born 1980) is a contemporary conceptual artist who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but is currently living in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her work takes traditional artistic media such as drawing, painting and sculpture and pushes their limits as a scientific experimentation with art making. Slavs and Tatars is an art collective and "a faction of polemics and intimacies devoted to an area east of the former Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China known as Eurasia". Hilary Lloyd
Hilary Lloyd is an English artist working in video, sound, sculpture, painting and installation. Her exhibition of film and video at Raven Row arts centre was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2011. Biography She was born in 1964 in Halifax and studied art at the Newcastle Polytechnic. She now works and lives in London while researching at Central Saint Martins and has exhibited internationally in cities such as New York, Venice and Basel. Work Hilary Lloyd's work is derived from her observation of people, objects, and spaces. She says that her work does not need to be understood, and that she often does not understand it herself. Zina Saro-Wiwa
Zina Saro-Wiwa (born 1976, Port Harcourt, Nigeria) is a Brooklyn-based video artist and filmmaker. She makes video installations, documentaries, music videos and experimental films. Saro-Wiwa is the founding filmmaker of the alt-Nollywood movement – a movement that uses the narrative, stylistic and visual conventions of the Nollywood film industry but for subversive, politically challenging ends. Janet Biggs is an American visual artist, known for her work in video, photography and interdisciplinary performance art. Biggs lives and works in New York City. Biggs' work focuses on individuals in extreme landscapes or situations, such as the Taklamakan desert of Western China, the Horn of Africa, the Arctic, and the Mars Desert Research Station.
