Blackpool Lights is an American indie rock band founded in Kansas City, Missouri, by The Get Up Kids guitarist Jim Suptic, bassist Brian Everard, and drummer Billy Brimblecom. History Formation and ''This Town's Disaster'' (2004–2006) Blackpool Lights are a rock band from Kansas City, MO. featuring members of The Get Up Kids, The Belles, The Start, Buffalo Saints, and The Creature Comforts. The band was originally formed in 2004 by Jim Suptic and Billy Brimblecom, and they were joined shortly after by Brian Everard and JD Warnock. After Jim Suptic had finished recording Guilt Show with The Get Up Kids. There was a good deal of tension within the band, and Jim had written several songs that he felt didn't fit The Get Up Kids. ''This Town's Disaster'' is the first studio album by American indie rock band Blackpool Lights. Released in June 2006, it is the first album to be released on Curb Appeal Records, the indie record label co-founded and owned by the band's lead singer/guitarist Jim Suptic. The album was recorded a year before its release in 2005, but could not be released until Curb Appeal was fully functional. Background Much of the album was recorded in late spring/early summer 2005, during periods of time when lead singer/guitarist Jim Suptic was home in-between tour dates for the final tour of The Get Up Kids. Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards). Starting as a hardcore punk band in the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Social Distortion went on a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s, due to Ness's drug addiction and troubles with the law which resulted in extended stints in various rehabilitation centers that lasted for two years.
