''Black Samson, the Bastard Swordsman'' is a collaborative studio album by American hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and producer Mathematics, released on April 12, 2025 for the Record Store Day. It marks the group's fourth album release under the abbreviated name "Wu-Tang", following ''Chamber Music'', '' Legendary Weapons'', and ''The Saga Continues''—the last of which was also a collaboration with Mathematics. The album is the first Wu-Tang project since ''Once Upon a Time in Shaolin'' to feature all nine living members. U-God
Lamont Jody Hawkins (born November 10, 1970), better known by his stage name U-God, meaning Universal-God, is an American rapper and member of the hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He has been with the group since its inception, and is known for his deep voice and rhythmic flow that can alternate between gruff and smooth. Early life Hawkins was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, on November 10, 1970. He moved to Staten Island as a youth. He was originally a beatboxer for Cappadonna, and was friends with future members Method Man, Inspectah Deck and childhood friend of Raekwon. Sometime before the members united, U-God was mentored in rap by Cappadonna. Keith Omar Murray (born May 29, 1972) is an American rapper from New York. He is best known for being a member of the hip hop group Def Squad, which includes fellow rappers Redman and fellow Long Island native Erick Sermon. Erick Sermon (born November 25, 1968) is an American rapper and producer. He is best known as one-third—alongside PMD & DJ Scratch—of 1980s/1990s hip hop group EPMD and for his production work. Early life Erick Sermon was born on November 25, 1968, in Bay Shore on Long Island, New York. Career Sermon started professionally in 1986 as a producer and artist of the hip hop group EPMD. He began recording solo albums for Def Jam in 1993; in 1997, he rejoined EPMD. The following year, Sermon, Murray and Redman recorded a cover version of "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang.
