Black Panther () is a seminal Chinese rock band founded in 1987. It was originally fronted by one of China's alternative music pioneers Dou Wei. The band reunited and released a new album in 2013. "Who We Are", was produced by Jamii Szmadzinski. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the Garage rock, garage, Psychedelic rock, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Ding Wu
Ding Wu () (born December 30, 1962) is a Chinese musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the seminal progressive metal band Tang Dynasty. His distinct, wailing falsetto draws influences from Beijing Opera. Early life and career Ding Wu was born in Beijing. His father was a soldier in the People's Liberation Army, and his mother was a Party cadre. He took up drawing at age 3. In 1968, Ding and his family relocated to Manchuria, moving back to Beijing in 1972. As a result, he did not attend school until he was ten years old. Ding developed an interest in Beijing Opera at around age 8, and picked up the guitar in 1976. He was admitted to the Beijing School of Arts and Crafts in 1978, where he was first exposed to rock music, and formed his first bands with his peers. Dou Wei
Dou Wei (born October 14, 1969) is a Chinese musician, singer-songwriter, composer and music producer. He is a representative figure in Chinese rock music. Alongside rock singers He Yong and Zhang Chu, they were collectively known as the "Prominent Three of Moyan Record Label" in the 1990s. Music Dou Wei is a multi-instrumentalist and produces music across many genres. He first came to prominence as a member of the hard rock group Black Panther (Hei Bao, 黑豹). In the album '' Sunny Days'' and '' Mountain River'', Dou Wei explored new frontiers in electronic and ambient music. From there on, Dou Wei's music took the direction of ambience, folk and post-rock. His two last vocal albums, ''Acousma'' and ''Rainy Murmur'' with the E Band, drew influence from the UK post-rock group Bark Psychosis. Heibao (Black Panther Album)
''Heibao'' () is the self-titled debut album by seminal Chinese rock band Black Panther, released August 1991 in Hong Kong on Kinn's Management Ltd. and December 1, 1992 in China and Taiwan on Magic Stone Records. The album spawned two hits; the opening track "Shameful" became the group's best-known song, while the power ballad "Don't Break My Heart", topped the Hong Kong charts for three weeks upon its release. Black Panther were soon signed by Taiwanese record label Rock Records, which was then establishing a rock market in China via its mainland subsidiary, Magic Stone. The Magic Stone edition of the record was released in China and Taiwan in December 1992. The album sold 1.5 million copies, making it one of the bestselling Chinese rock albums of all time.
