Björk (exhibition)
''Björk'' was an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) about the Icelandic singer of the same name. Background and development On June 12, 2014, it was announced that the '' Biophilia'' apps were to be featured as part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, thus becoming the first app to be part of the museum collection. A week later, the museum announced that a retrospective exhibition of the singer's work will take place starting on March 7, 2015 until June 7, 2015. Mutual Core
"Mutual Core" is a song recorded by Icelandic singer Björk for her seventh studio album '' Biophilia'' (2011). It was written and produced by Björk herself, while programming and beats were made in collaboration with Matthew Herbert and the English dubstep band 16bit. "Mutual Core" is an uptempo experimental song. Its music includes Pipe organ, electronica-tinged sounds and features the Choir Graduale Nobili, the choir featured on ''Biophilia''. The song's lyrics are a metaphor for human relationships, compared to the structure of the Earth and Plate tectonics. The song was well received by contemporary music critics, who praised its production and beats, moreover appreciating Björk's voice on the track. As with all the songs on ''Biophilia'', an app was made for the song, which features a video game in which the player have to move geological layers as an accordion to play chords. Acousmatic Sound
Acousmatic sound is sound that is heard without an originating cause being seen. The word ''acousmatic'', from the French ''acousmatique'', is derived from the Greek word ''akousmatikoi'' (ἀκουσματικοί), which referred to probationary pupils of the philosopher Pythagoras who were required to sit in absolute silence while they listened to him deliver his lecture from behind a veil or screen to make them better concentrate on his teachings. The term ''acousmatique'' was first used by the French composer and pioneer of musique concrète Pierre Schaeffer. In acousmatic art one hears sound from behind a "veil" of loudspeakers, the source cause remaining unseen. More generally, any sound, whether it is natural or manipulated, may be described as acousmatic if the cause of the sound remains unseen. ''Björk'' is the only studio album by Icelandic singer Björk as a child singer, released on 18 December 1977 by Fálkinn. In 1976, Björk appeared on Icelandic radio singing "I Love to Love" through the music school she attended, which led her to a record deal and the release, with the help of stepfather Sævar, of her first solo album in 1977. The album is reputed to be juvenilia work and it is not included in the singer's official solo discography, hence the 1993 release ''Debut'' is widely considered to be Björk's first studio album. Juvenilia are literary, musical or artistic works produced by authors during their youth. Written juvenilia, if published at all, usually appears as a retrospective publication, some time after the author has become well known for later works. The term was first recorded in 1622 in George Wither's poetry collection ''Ivvenilia''. Andrew Thomas Huang is a Chinese-American visual artist and film director known for his music videos for artists Björk, FKA twigs and Atoms for Peace. In 2019, Huang was nominated for a Grammy for his music video for FKA twigs - " Cellophane." His films and videos have been commissioned by and exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, NYC; MoMA PS1; The Sydney Opera House, Sydney; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
