Bitterzoet
Bitterzoet is a nightclub and music venue in Amsterdam. It is located on Spuistraat and was opened in 2003. History Bitterzoet was started in 2003 by Pieter de Kroon, Joris Bakker, and Nica de Bloeme. The club quickly became successful and was particularly well-known in hip-hop circles. In 2008, the club was sold to new owners Bas Louwers and Sjoerd Idema, although they continued with the same name and programming. 3voor12 subsequently wrote in an article about Bitterzoet: "In five years, Bitterzoet has grown into an important club, with innovative programming in the field of both hip-hop and alternative music." In 2018, Bitterzoet celebrated its fifteenth anniversary. Since 2020, Bas Louwers has been the sole owner. Spuistraat
The Spuistraat in downtown Amsterdam connects the Hekelveld to the Spui. It runs roughly north to south, parallel to the Singel and the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. At the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, the Spuistraat crosses the Raadhuisstraat and Paleisstraat. Originally the Spuistraat was a canal, the Nieuwezijds Achterburgwal. The canal was filled up in 1867, and the street was then renamed. Paradiso (Amsterdam)
Paradiso is a music venue and cultural center located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Built in 1880 as a religious building for the Vrije Gemeente (Free Congregation), it was converted into youth entertainment venue in 1968. Until the 1990s, it was the largest concert club in Amsterdam. It is sometimes described as a "Pop Temple" (''poptempel'' in Dutch), as the interior of its main hall retains some church-like features, including large stained glass windows behind the stage. ''De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland'' (meaning ''The best singer-songwriter of the Netherlands''), was a launching pioneer programme of the series ''De beste singer-songwriter'' abbreviated as ''DBSSW''. It was a music contest program in Dutch broadcast on Dutch television channel VARA and BNN, in cooperation with radio station 3FM, where DJ and broadcaster Giel Beelen hosts the search for best Dutch singer-songwriter talents. The jury included Giel Beelen, Frans "Spike" van Zoest, Vince van Reeken, Jacqueline Govaert (Krezip), Eric Corton, Gerard Ekdom and Sanne Hans (member of Miss Montreal).
