Bisonó
Navarrete (Municipio de villa Bisonó) is a municipality in northwestern Dominican Republic, created in 1961. It lies approximately from Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic's second largest city. The administrative centre is in the town of Villa Bisonó. Geography Bisonó is located in the Cibao Valley of the Yaque del Norte River. Before the clearance for agriculture and grazing, the area was forested, being in a subtropical dry forest ecosystem. The northern part of the municipality grades into the foothills of the Cordillera Septentrional. The southern boundary of Bisonó municipality is formed by the Yaque del Norte River. Across the river to the south is the municipal district of La Canela, to the southwest and west is the province of Valverde, to the north is the municipality of Altamira of Puerto Plata Province, to the southeast is the municipality of Villa Gonzalez and to the northeast is the municipal district of El Limon. Santiago Province (Dominican Republic)
Santiago () is a province which currently comprises one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic. It is divided into 10 municipalities and its capital city is Santiago de los Caballeros. Located in north-central Dominican Republic, in the Cibao region, it is bordered by the provinces of Valverde to the north-west, Puerto Plata to the north, Espaillat and La Vega to the east, San Juan to the south and Santiago Rodríguez to the west. It is home to an intellectual, educational, and cultural center. It is also a major industrial center with rum, textile, cigarette and cigar industries based there. Shoe manufacturing, leather goods, and furniture making are important parts of the province's economic life. DR-1
DR-1 is a dual carriageway highway that forms part of the five designated national highways of the Dominican Republic. DR-1 provides a fast connection between Santo Domingo, the capital, on the southern coast, and the second city Santiago and the rest of the northerly Cibao region, one of the country's main regions. DR-1's southern terminus is the ''Expreso John F Kennedy'' in the City of Santo Domingo. The highway emerges from Greater Santo Domingo as Autopista Juan Pablo Duarte, and after reaching its midpoint, Santiago, it changes name to Autopista Joaquín Balaguer. DR-1 is the oldest and one of the most efficient highways in the nation. Construction of the initial road from Santo Domingo to Santiago began in 1917 and was completed in 1922. DR-5 is of one of the main highways in the Dominican Republic.
