Bishwambhar Pyakurel
Bishwambhar Pyakurel is a Nepali economist, author, and former ambassador of Nepal to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Prof. Pyakuryal taught economics at the Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University for four decades. He holds degrees in economics, including a Ph.D. and post-doctoral research from Tribhuvan University, Ohio University, and the University of Maryland. Pyakurel has been working as a consultant in economics and development for over two dozen UN agencies. He has held positions, including Chairman of the Nepal Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC), Member of the Board of Nepal Rastra Bank, and Member of several high-level committees in the Government of Nepal. His work has also earned him international recognition as a Professional Associate at the East-West Center, Scholar-in-Residence at the Rockefeller Foundation, and Visiting Scholar at the International Food Policy Research Institute.
