Birthright Unplugged
Birthright Unplugged is an educational organization, designed as a response to the Birthright Israel trips. The name "Birthright Unplugged" is a spin on the "Birthright Israel" program. History and organization According to Birthright Unplugged, it was founded in 2003 by Dunya Alwan and Hannah Mermelstein. Alwan serves as the organization's current director. In 2005, Birthright Israel filed a "cease and desist" complaint against Birthright Unplugged for trademark infringement, alleging " unfair competition". Activities The Unplugged trip sought to expose mostly North American people to the Palestinian side of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict through travel and conversations with a range of Palestinian activists. In six days, they visited Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps in the West Bank and spend time with Palestinian refugees living inside Israel. Taglit-Birthright Israel ( he, תגלית), also known as Birthright Israel or simply Birthright, is a not-for-profit educational organization that sponsors free ten-day heritage trips to Israel, Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights for young adults of Jewish heritage, aged 18–32. ''Taglit'' is the Hebrew word for 'discovery'. During their trip, participants, most of whom are visiting Israel for the first time, are encouraged to discover new meaning in their personal Jewish identity and connection to Jewish history and culture. Since trips began in the winter of 1999 through 2017, more than 600,000 young people from 67 countries have participated in the program. Birthright International is an international anti-abortion organization of crisis pregnancy centers. It offers a range of services, to an estimated 10 million women, designed to "help support a woman's desire not to have an abortion," including referrals to legal, medical and psychological services, as well as a range of community support assistance such as financial aid. The organization, founded in 1968 by Louise Summerhill has its international headquarters in Toronto, Ontario Canada, having originated at Coxwell and Danforth. ''Birthright'' is a ''Dungeons & Dragons'' campaign setting that was first released by TSR in 1995. It is based on the continent of ''Cerilia'' on the world of ''Aebrynis'', in which the players take on the role of the divinely-empowered rulers, with emphasis on the political rulership level of gameplay. The setting revolves around the concept of ''bloodlines'': divine power gained by heroes and passed to their descendants. Characters with a bloodline create an aura of command known as ''Regency'', which is measured in the game using ''regency points'' or RP. Using ''regency'', characters acquire a ''domain'' composed of ''provinces'' and ''holdings''. The development of these domains is as much a part of the game as development of the characters. Birthright, also known as Lone Star, is an unincorporated community in Hopkins County, Texas, United States. Birthright is located on Farm to Market Road 71 north of Sulphur Springs. History Birthright was founded ''circa'' 1870 by E. C. Birthright, who opened a store at the site. A post office opened at Birthright in 1871; Edward McLaughlin was the first postmaster. By 1885, the community had four mill-gins, three churches, and the Lone Star School. A newspaper called the ''Lone Star Appeal'' was being printed in Birthright by 1890, at which time its population was 250. The population fell to 85 by 1925, and the school closed between the 1930s and 1948. By the 1960s, the post office and the remaining stores had closed, and all that remained of Birthright was two churches and several homes. In 1990 and 2000, Birthright had a population of 40. ''Wish Upon a Blackstar'' is the second vocal studio album (third overall) from American electronic rock project, Celldweller. While the album had been a work in progress since 2004, finalized songs from the album were not released until mid-2009. The full album was released on June 12, 2012. Grant Mohrman, producer of the debut Celldweller album, returned to co-produce the album with Klayton. Production Klayton began to work on the album in 2004, originally slated for release in the summer of 2006, the album was delayed numerous times. It was released in February 1986, through lead singer Glenn Danzig's independent record label, Plan 9. ''Analogue'' is the eighth studio album by the Norwegian band A-ha, released in 2005. It is a-ha's first album on Polydor Records ( Universal), having previously been signed to Warner Music. Four singles were also released from this record. The album's second single, "Analogue (All I Want)" became the group's first top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart since "Stay on These Roads" (1988). The album reached No. 24 in the UK and got silver certification there. Background and recording The song "Analogue (All I Want)" was originally a song called "Minor Key Sonata (Analogue)", which (like the rest of the album) was produced by Martin Terefe and mixed by Flood. Max Martin was then brought in to turn "Minor Key Sonata (Analogue)" into a more radio-friendly song, with a less surreal lyric and catchier chorus.
