Birmingham Press Club is a press club based in the English city of Birmingham. Established in 1865, just six years after Concordia Press Club in Vienna, became the second oldest organisation of its type in the world. The club hosts a number of prestigious events, including the annual Midlands Media Awards. A press club is an organization for journalists and others who are professionally engaged in the production and dissemination of news. A press club whose membership is defined by the press of a given country may be known as a National Press Club of that country. Ludovic Kennedy
Sir Ludovic Henry Coverley Kennedy, (3 November 191918 October 2009) was a Scottish journalist, broadcaster, humanist and author. As well as his wartime service in the Royal Navy, he is known for presenting many current affairs programmes and for reexamining cases such as the Lindbergh kidnapping and the murder convictions of Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley. He also campaigned for the abolition of the death penalty in the United Kingdom. Michael Parkinson
Sir Michael Parkinson (28 March 1935 – 16 August 2023) was an English television presenter, broadcaster, journalist and author. He presented his television talk show '' Parkinson'' from 1971 to 1982 and from 1998 to 2007, as well as other talk shows and programmes both in the UK and abroad. Ed James (disc Jockey)
Ed James (born Edward Charles Stirk 23 March 1976 in Knighton, Radnorshire) is a British disc jockey, broadcaster, journalist, author and live event host who presented Drive Time for Heart West Midlands in Birmingham alongside Gemma Hill. He moved to the Drive Time Show in 2019, after presenting the Breakfast Show since 2002 on Heart. He has just announced he’ll be moving to BBC Radio WM on April 22nd to host the mid morning show. He is also a columnist with the Birmingham Mail, Chairman of the Birmingham Press Club and is the co-founder of Lunar Agency. Career He started on the radio aged twelve on BBC Radio York.
