Birkerød
Birkerød () is a town in Rudersdal Municipality in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is surrounded by several lakes and small woodlands. Birkerød station is located on the Nordbanen, Hillerød radial of the S-train suburban network. History The parish of Birkerød contained the villages Birkerød, Kajerød, Bistrup, Ravnsnæs, Isterød, Høsterkøb, Sandbjerg and Ubberød. Birkerød became a railway town in 1868, when the Nordbanen railway opened a station here between Lyngby and Helsingør. This led to new growth and several brickyards opened in the area in the second half of the 19th century. The rail line between Copenhagen and Hillerød was later converted to an S-train suburban line and construction of new residential neighbourhoods accelerated in the 1940s which, in time, made Birkerød merge with Bistrup to the south, Kajerød to the west and Ravnsnæs to the east. IF Skjold Birkerød
Idrætsforeningen Skjold Birkerød (; commonly known as Skjold Birkerød), is a sports club based in Birkerød, Denmark. Skjold is mostly known for its association football department, which competes in the Denmark Series, the fourth tier of the Danish football league system. Founded in 1917, it is affiliated to the regional DBU Zealand football association. The team plays its home matches at Birkerød Stadium. Skjold play in yellow jerseys, black shorts and black socks. Rudersdal Municipality
Rudersdal Municipality () is a part suburban, part rural municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') located on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers an area of 73 km² and has a population of 57,342 (1. January 2025). The distance from Copenhagen City Hall Square is approximately 20 km. The western part of the municipality is served by the Hillerød radial of the S-train network while the eastern part is served by the Coast Line. Administratively Rudersdal Municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden. The 2nd Division () is a professional association football league for men and the third division in Denmark. It is organised by the Divisionsforeningen on behalf of the Danish Football Association (Danish FA; DBU) as part of the nation-wide Danmarksturneringen i fodbold (Herre-DM) and is positioned between the second-tier 1st Division and the fourth-tier Danish 3rd Division in the Danish football league system. Nordbanen
The North Line () is a railway line which connects the centre of Copenhagen with several of its northern suburbs, and the cities of Birkerød, Lillerød and Hillerød in North Zealand, Denmark. It is one of the six radial lines of Copenhagen's S-train network, a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Greater Copenhagen. The North Line opened in 1864, and was originally the main line between Copenhagen and Elsinore until the more direct Coast Line opened in 1897. Høsterkøb
Høsterkøb is a village in Rudersdal Municipality, some north of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is bounded on the south by Rude Forest and on the north by open fields. Etymology The name is derived from ''Husfrecop''. The first part of the name means ''hustru'' ("wife") while the suffix ''-køb'', which is only seen in toponyms from the north of Zealand and Scania, means "purchased land" ("købt jord"). Høsterkøb thus means "land purchased by (a) wife". History The village was probably founded some time during the transition between the Viking Age and the Middle Ages (900–1100). It is first recorded in a letter from 1186 where Pope Urban III thinks Bishop Absalon for giving it to Roskilde bishopric. Holte
Holte is a suburban district in Rudersdal Municipality on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The local town centre is centred on Holte station and is surrounded by extensive areas of single-family, detached homes as well as several lakes and forests. The district has merged with the old villages of Søllerød and Øverød which both belong to Holte postal district (2840 Holte).
