William Norman Reed
William Norman Reed (January 8, 1917 – December 19, 1944) was a World War II fighter pilot, first with the Flying Tigers, then with the Chinese-American Composite Wing, Fourteenth Air Force, United States Army Air Forces. He is credited with nine aerial victories (three with the Tigers, six with the Army), making him an ace. Early life Born in Stone City, Iowa, William Reed, commonly called "Bill", grew up in Marion. He graduated from Marion High School in 1935 and cum laude from Loras College in Dubuque in 1939. Military service In February 1940, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and was commissioned a second lieutenant. He served as a flight instructor at Barksdale Field in Louisiana. William George Reed (25 January 1928 – January 2003) was a Welsh professional footballer who made nearly 300 appearances in the Football League and represented his country at schoolboy, amateur and senior level. Reed played twice for the Wales amateur team while still a teenager. He turned professional with Cardiff City in 1947, but did not make his Football League debut until the following year with Brighton & Hove Albion. After five years and 132 appearances in all competitions, Reed signed for Ipswich Town. In four-and-a-half seasons with Ipswich, he scored 46 goals from 169 matches, won Third Division South titles in 1953–54 and 1956–57, and became the first Ipswich player to be capped for his country at senior level when he played twice for Wales in 1954. William Ernest Reed (born May 25, 1954) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted in the fourth round, 72nd overall, by the Boston Bruins in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft. William Samuel Reed (15 November 1864 – 24 April 1941) was a Progressive party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Harrowsmith Village, Canada West and became a farmer. Reed served as a municipal councillor of Harrowsmith and from 1915 to 1920 was reeve of Portsmouth Township. He was elected to Parliament at the Frontenac riding in the 1921 general election when he defeated John Wesley Edwards of the Conservatives.
