Billy Miller (archivist)
William Henry Miller Jr. (January 1, 1954 – November 13, 2016) was an American musician, archivist, and rock 'n' roll collector. His magazine, ''Kicks'', and record label, Norton Records, Norton (both co-founded with his wife, Miriam Linna), championed vintage rockabilly and garage bands. Miller was born in Jamaica, Queens, and grew up in Carle Place, on Long Island. He attended Carle Place High School, earned a bachelor's degree in photography and art from the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, and worked as a draftsman at the same firm (Gibbs & Cox) as his father. Billy Miller and Linna met in 1977, they established ''Kicks'' in 1979, and Norton Records in 1986. He performed with the Zantees and the A-Bones (the A-Bones were named after a 1964 song by the Trashmen), produced records for Hasil Adkins, Roky Erickson, and Flat Duo Jets, and wrote liner notes for reissues by the The Fabulous Wailers, Fabulous Wailers, The Astronauts (band), Astronauts, the Trashmen, and ... Rock and roll (often written as rock & roll, rock-n-roll, and rock 'n' roll) is a Genre (music), genre of popular music that evolved in the United States during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Flat Duo Jets
Flat Duo Jets was an American rock band from Carrboro, North Carolina, and Athens, Georgia. This rockabilly, punk blues, and psychobilly band was a major influence on several bands of the 1990s and 2000s, including The White Stripes. The band's front man Dexter Romweber is considered by many to be the "godfather" of the guitar and drums and "power duo" revival. History Flat Duo Jets formed in Carrboro, North Carolina in 1983. Their original line-up was Dexter Romweber on guitar and Chris “Crow” Smith on drums—both were seventeen years old at the time. Romweber and Smith met in fifth grade; by junior high school they had founded a band called The Remains which lasted for a year. Diabetes
Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes, is a group of common endocrine diseases characterized by sustained high blood sugar levels. Diabetes is due to either the pancreas not producing enough of the hormone insulin, or the cells of the body becoming unresponsive to insulin's effects. Classic symptoms include polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyuria (excessive urination), polyphagia (excessive hunger), weight loss, and blurred vision. Myeloma
Multiple myeloma (MM), also known as plasma cell myeloma and simply myeloma, is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell that normally produces antibodies. Often, no symptoms are noticed initially. As it progresses, bone pain, anemia, renal insufficiency, and infections may occur. Complications may include hypercalcemia and amyloidosis. The cause of multiple myeloma is unknown. Risk factors include obesity, radiation exposure, family history, age and certain chemicals. There is an increased risk of multiple myeloma in certain occupations. This is due to the occupational exposure to aromatic hydrocarbon solvents having a role in causation of multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is the result of a multi-step malignant transformation, and almost universally originates from the pre-malignant stage monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS).
