Billy Hennessy
Billy Hennessy (born 15 August 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left wing-back for club side St Finbarr's and at senior level with the Cork county team. He usually lines out as a left wing-back. He is the current captain of the St. Finbarr's premier senior hurling team. He captained St. Finbarr's to a Premier Senior hurling county final win in 2022. Playing career Christian Brothers College Hennessy first came to prominence as a hurler with Christian Brothers College, a school noted as a rugby union stronghold. Having played hurling in every grade of hurling during his time at the school, he usually lined out in the half-back line on the school's senior team. On 14 October 2015, Hennessy was at right wing-back on the CBC team that recorded a first victory in the Dr Harty Cup in 97 years. The 2017 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 54th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 24 May 2017 and ended on 9 September 2017. Waterford entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the Munster semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time in several seasons. On 9 September 2017, Limerick won the championship following a 0-17 to 0-11 defeat of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. 2017 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 2017 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 129th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2017 fixtures took place on 11 December 2016. The championship ran from 6 May to 22 October 2017. Glen Rovers entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Na Piarsaigh in Round 4. Youghal's relegation ended five years of top tier hurling for the club. The final was played on 22 October 2017 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Imokilly and Blackrock, in what was their third meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in 16 years. The 2016 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 128th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 13 December 2015. The championship ran from 15 May and to 15 October 2016. Glen Rovers entered the championship as the defending champions. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork GAA, Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the County Cork, county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. The 2018 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (SHC) was the 131st staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into five divisions, with seven teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. The 2017 Munster Senior Hurling League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores.ie Munster Hurling League, was the second Munster Senior Hurling League, the annual hurling league competition for GAA county teams, county teams from the province of Munster.
