Billund Municipality
Billund Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in the centre of the Jutland Peninsula in Denmark. Formerly the municipality belonged to Ribe County. The new, merged municipality covers an area of 540.18 km², and has a total population of 27,168 (2025). Its mayor is Stephanie Storbank, a member of Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal council is the town of Grindsted, which is the largest town in the municipality followed by the city of Billund. On 1 January 2007, as a result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), approved by the lawmakers in Folketinget 16 June 2005, and, after the signature by the head of state, published in Lovtidende, and being in effect from 26 June 2005, the new municipality was formed. Billund Airport
Billund Airport () is an airport in Denmark. Located northeast of Billund, Denmark, Billund, it serves as one of the country's busiest Cargo airline, air cargo centres, as well as a charter airline destination. It is the List of the busiest airports in the Nordic countries, 10th busiest airport in the Nordic countries. History Early years Billund Airport had its beginning in 1961 when the son of the founder of the Lego Group, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, established a private 800-meter long runway and hangar north of his factory in Billund. Filskov is a town in Billund Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. It is located 39 km northwest of Vejle, 9 km east of Sønder Omme, 10 km northeast of Grindsted and 13 km northwest of Billund. As of 1 January 2025, the population of Filskov was 697. Sønder Omme often abbreviated to Sdr. Omme, is a town in Billund Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. It is located 30 km southeast of Skjern, 20 km east of Ølgod, 26 km southeast of Tarm, 21 km southwest of Brande and 10 km north of the municipal seat Grindsted. As of 1 January 2025 the population of Sønder Omme was 1,694, making it the third largest town in Billund Municipality. East Jutland metropolitan area () is a potential metropolitan area in Jutland and Funen, Denmark. Aarhus is the most populated city in the region. The National Planning Report of 2006, published by the Danish Environment Ministry, argued that "East Jutland is developing into a coherent area with high population growth and division of labour between the cities in the urban band that extends from Kolding to Randers" and foresaw "the contours of a future million-city".
