The Billings metropolitan area is the largest metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Montana. It is centered around Billings in the south central portion of Montana and has a population is 184,167 as of 2020. It includes Carbon, Stillwater and Yellowstone counties, and has one of the geographically largest trade, cultural, business and medical areas in the United States; this includes all of Montana. Park City, Montana
Park City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stillwater County, Montana, United States. The population was 1,023 at the 2020 census. Located 20 miles from the state's largest city, Billings, Park City has a small town atmosphere. It is not incorporated, therefore does not have a mayor or any other "city" legislative positions. The town serves as a bedroom community for the neighboring cities of Laurel and Billings. Most inhabitants are employed in either of those two towns. It is mainly a farming community, growing mostly sugar beets and corn. The town has a library, school, fire department, two gas stations/convenience stores, three churches of different denominations as well as two bars. Most of the historical buildings are made of sandstone, due to the large sandstone cliffs to the north of the town. A post office was opened under the name Young’s Point in 1878. Huntley, Montana
Huntley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. The population was 411 at the 2000 census. Huntley lent its name to the Huntley Project, a federal irrigation project that began delivering water to the arid district in 1907. Today, Huntley is an eastern suburb of Billings and is located east of Shepherd and west of Worden. History This settlement in arid Crow Indian country was named for S.O. Huntley, a partner in the stagecoach firm of Clark & Huntley. It was located at the head of navigation on the Yellowstone River. The first steamboat, the packet ''Josephine'', arrived June 6, 1875, but river trade was infrequent. A U.S. post office was established in March 1878. Fromberg is a town in Carbon County, Montana, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 392. History The community is near the Gebo Mine, developed by Samuel Gebo, a coal mine nearby. Coalville, Montana, also known as Gebo, Montana was the community closer to the coal mine itself. The Fromberg Post Office was established on March 21, 1903, with Abraham Pierson as the town's first postmaster. The town was named after Northern Pacific stockholder Conrad Fromberg. Belfry, Montana
Belfry is a census-designated place (CDP) in Carbon County, Montana, United States. It is an unincorporated town, and is part of the Billings, Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 218 at the 2010 census. It is located approximately from the Wyoming border, roughly halfway between Billings, Montana and Cody, Wyoming. Belfry is predominantly an agricultural community. The primary crops are sugar beets, alfalfa, and feed corn. Ranchers raise cattle and sheep. Water for agricultural use comes mostly from the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River through several cooperative ditch companies, with water rights dating back 100 years or more. Ballantine is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. It lies approximately northeast of Billings on Interstate 94. The population was 346 at the 2000 census. Ballantine, along with the communities of Pompey's Pillar, Worden, and Huntley, is part of the Huntley Project, an irrigation district created by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Worden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. The population was 582 at the 506 at the 2020 census. Worden, along with Ballantine, Huntley, and Pompey's Pillar, is part of the Huntley Project, an irrigation district established by the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1907. Worden is home to a number of restaurants, bars, stores, churches, and other services. It is also the home of the Huntley Project School System, consisting of an elementary, junior high, and high school. Huntley Project High School's team name is the "Red Devils."
