Bill Zehme
Bill Zehme (October 28, 1958 – March 26, 2023) was an American author who was known for his writing on music and popular culture. He collaborated on books with such celebrities as Regis Philbin, Jay Leno, and Hugh Hefner. His articles appeared in ''Rolling Stone'', ''Esquire'', ''Playboy'', and '' Vanity Fair''. He won a National Magazine award in 2004 for his profile of newspaper columnist Bob Greene. Early life and education Zehme grew up in South Holland, Illinois, attending Thornwood High School and graduating from Loyola University in 1980. Work Zehme's first book, written with Bonnie Schiffman, was 1991's ''The Rolling Stone Book of Comedy''. Five years later, Zehme conducted the last major interview of Frank Sinatra’s life, publishing a piece in ''Esquire''s March 1996 issue on Sinatra and the Rat Pack ("And Then There Was One"). ''Playboy After Dark'' is an American television show hosted by Hugh Hefner. It aired in syndication through Screen Gems from 1969 to 1970 and was taped at CBS Television City in Los Angeles. John William Carson (October 23, 1925 – January 23, 2005) was an American television host, comedian, and writer best known as the host of NBC's ''The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson'' (1962–1992). The Rat Pack was an informal group of singers that, in its second iteration, ultimately made films and appeared together in Las Vegas casino venues. They originated in the late 1940s and early 1950s as a group of A-list show business friends, such as Errol Flynn, Nat King Cole, Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and others who met casually at the Holmby Hills home of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. South Holland, Illinois
South Holland is a village and south suburb of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States, within Thornton Township. The population was 21,465 at the 2020 census. It is named after the Dutch province of South Holland. History The area currently occupied by South Holland, Illinois, was first settled in 1846 by immigrants from South Holland, Netherlands. When the community formally incorporated as a village in 1894, its population was about 1,000. Originally a general farming community, it later specialized in vegetable growing, especially onion sets. By the 1940s South Holland was known as the "Onion Set Capital of the World".
