Bill Young (comedian)
William C. "Bill" Young (died December 12, 2014) was an American stand-up comedian from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Young appeared on three comedy albums released by Stand Up! Records, including the posthumous career retrospective ''Eat the Cake!'', released in 2023. Career Young began performing comedy in 2000. He considered himself a story-oriented comedian, as opposed to one-liners. Andrew Cahak, host of the podcast ''Dogbrain'', called him "a strict adherent to silliness in all its forms." Patrick Strait of City Pages called him "one of the most consistently funny and compassionate members of the (Twin Cities) standup scene." Writing for Laughspin, Mike Brody said that Young's "ability to make a spine-tinglingly funny comment at any moment defined him." He was a regular headliner at the weekly Monday Night Comedy Show at Spring Street Tavern. Dan Schlissel (born November 9, 1970) is an American record producer from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and founder of the record labels Stand Up! Records, which specializes in comedy, and -ismist Recordings, which focused on punk and alternative rock from Nebraska and nearby Midwestern states. Schlissel won a Grammy as producer of Lewis Black's 2006 album '' The Carnegie Hall Performance'', and was nominated for his work on Black's two Grammy-nominated albums, '' Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues'' and ''Anticipation''. He is known for his work with Black and other comics including Doug Stanhope, Maria Bamford, Marc Maron, and Mitch Hedberg, and helping release the debut record of Iowa metal band Slipknot. Tim Harmston is a stand-up comedian from Minneapolis. He competed on ''Last Comic Standing'' in 2014, and has performed on ''The Late Show With David Letterman'' and Comedy Central's ''Live at Gotham''. Star Tribune critic Jay Boller wrote that Harmston combines "the cadence of Brian Regan and the observational absurdism of Jim Gaffigan." He has released two albums on Stand Up! Oakdale is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. It is a suburb of Saint Paul and is on the eastern side of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. The population was 28,303 at the 2020 census. Oakdale is the 36th largest city in Minnesota by population.
