Bill Lenny (5 January 1924 – 7 January 2002) was a British film editor. Among his films were ''Cromwell'' (1970), '' Casino Royale'' (1967) and Hammer Film's original Dracula (1958). ''Cromwell'' is a 1970 British historical drama film written and directed by Ken Hughes. It is based on the life of Oliver Cromwell, who rose to lead the Parliamentary forces during the later years of the English Civil War and, as Lord Protector, ruled Great Britain and Ireland in the 1650s. It features an ensemble cast, led by Richard Harris as Cromwell and Alec Guinness as King Charles I, with Robert Morley as Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester and Timothy Dalton as Prince Rupert of the Rhine. Hammer Film Productions Ltd. is a British film production company based in London. ''Dracula'' is a 1958 British Gothic horror film directed by Terence Fisher and written by Jimmy Sangster based on Bram Stoker's 1897 novel of the same name. The first in the series of Hammer Horror films starring Christopher Lee as Count Dracula, the film also features Peter Cushing as Doctor Van Helsing, along with Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, Carol Marsh, and John Van Eyssen. ''Ike'', also known as ''Ike: The War Years'', is a 1979 television miniseries about the life of Dwight D. Eisenhower, mostly focusing on his time as Supreme Commander in Europe during World War II. The screenplay, written by Melville Shavelson, was based on Kay Summersby's 1948 memoir ''Eisenhower Was My Boss'' and her 1975 autobiography, ''Past Forgetting: My Love Affair''. ''Life on the Mississippi'' is a memoir by Mark Twain of his days as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River before the American Civil War published in 1883. It is also a travel book, recounting his trips on the Mississippi River, from St. Louis to New Orleans and then from New Orleans to Saint Paul, many years after the war. Overview The book begins with a brief history of the river as reported by Europeans and Americans, beginning with the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1542. It continues with anecdotes of Twain's training as a steamboat pilot, as the 'cub' (apprentice) of an experienced pilot, Horace E. Bixby. He describes, with great affection, the science of navigating the ever-changing Mississippi River in a section that was first published in 1876, entitled "Old Times on the Mississippi". ''British Film Editors'' (BFE) is a not-for profit honorary society of professional British Film and Television Editors. BFE was formed by some 40 British film editors in 1966. Originally named the Guild of British Film Editors (GBFE), as more television programmes – particularly dramas and drama series – were pre-recorded rather than broadcast live its membership very soon included editors working in television as well. In 2005, when the advance of digital recording and editing meant that very few editors were actually working with film at all, the name was changed to the Guild of British Film and Television Editors.
