Bill Hunt (cricketer)
William Alfred Hunt (26 August 1908 – 30 December 1983) was an Australian cricketer who played in one Test match in 1932. Hunt was a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler who played first-class cricket for New South Wales from 1929–30 to 1931–32. He took 5 for 36 and 4 for 105 when New South Wales defeated South Australia by an innings and 143 runs in the 1930–31 Sheffield Shield. In his only Test match, against South Africa in January 1932, Hunt's fellow spinners Clarrie Grimmett and Bill O'Reilly took 18 wickets between them, and Hunt did little bowling and took no wickets. He played with success for Rishton in the Lancashire League in 1934. Learie Constantine
Learie Nicholas Constantine, Baron Constantine (21 September 19011 July 1971) was a Trinidadian cricketer, lawyer and politician who served as Trinidad and Tobago's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and became the UK's first black peer. He played 18 Test matches for the West Indies before the Second World War and took the team's first wicket in Test cricket. An advocate against racial discrimination, in later life he was influential in the passing of the 1965 Race Relations Act in Britain. He was knighted in 1962 and made a life peer in 1969. Born in Trinidad, Constantine established an early reputation as a promising cricketer, and was a member of the West Indies teams that toured England in 1923 and 1928. Unhappy at the lack of opportunities for black people in Trinidad, he decided to pursue a career as a professional cricketer in England, and during the 1928 tour was awarded a contract with the Lancashire League club Nelson. Clarrie Grimmett
Clarence Victor Grimmett (25 December 1891 – 2 May 1980) was a New Zealand-born Australian cricketer. He was one of the finest spin bowlers of his all time and usually credited as the developer of the flipper. Early life in New Zealand Grimmett was born in Caversham, Dunedin, New Zealand, on Christmas Day 1891, leading Bill O'Reilly to say that he "must have been the best Christmas present Australia ever received from that country." A schoolmaster encouraged him to concentrate on spin bowling rather than fast bowling. He played club cricket in Wellington, and made his first-class debut for Wellington at the age of 17. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. Bill O'Reilly (cricketer)
William Joseph O'Reilly (20 December 19056 October 1992) was an Australian cricketer, rated as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the game. Following his retirement from playing, he became a well-respected cricket writer and broadcaster. O'Reilly was one of the best spin bowling, spin bowlers ever to play cricket. He delivered the Cricket ball, ball from a two-fingered grip at close to Fast bowling#Terminology, medium pace with great accuracy, and could produce leg breaks, googly, googlies, and topspinner, top spinners, with no discernible change in his action.Wisden (1935), pp. 284–286.
