Bill Blair
William "Bill" Sterling Blair (born April 9, 1954) is a Canadian politician and former police officer who served as the Minister of National Defence (Canada), Minister of National Defence from 2023 to 2025. A member of the Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal Party, Blair has represented Scarborough Southwest (federal electoral district), Scarborough Southwest in the House of Commons of Canada, House of Commons since 2015. Blair previously held the portfolios of Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction and Minister of Public Safety, minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Before entering politics, Blair worked for four decades with the Toronto Police Service (TPS), serving as the Toronto Chief of Police, chief of police from 2005 until retiring in 2015. The Order of Merit of the Police Forces () is an honour for merit that is, within the Canadian system of honours, the only such fellowship reserved for only members of Canada's various police forces. South Hill is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located north of downtown and covers the area west of Avenue Road, south of St. Clair Avenue, east of Spadina Road, and north of the Canadian Pacific railway tracks.
