Bild (German TV Channel)
Bild (alternatively also called Bild TV) is a German free-to-air private news TV channel that represents the television arm of the Bild newspaper. It belongs to the WeltN24 broadcasting group, received its broadcasting license in June 2021, and began broadcasting on 22 August 2021. Bild is marketed by the publishing subsidiary Visoon Media and is supported by advertising. License and incorporation The broadcasting license required to start broadcasting as a classic television broadcaster with 24/7 operation was applied for in August 2021. On 24 June 2021 the granting of the broadcasting license was announced. At the end of July 2021, Bild began test operations via Astra. On the satellite Astra 19.2 Ost on transponder 33 there was an indication of the planned start of transmission. Welt (formerly N24) is a German free-to-air television news channel owned by WeltN24 GmbH. It also provides regular news updates to ProSiebenSat.1 Media properties like ProSieben and kabel eins. On 21 September 2017, WeltN24 announced that N24 would be rebranded as "Welt" on 18 January 2018. WeltN24 also publishes Die Welt, a conservative-leaning newspaper. Deutschlandfunk Kultur (; abbreviated to ''DLF Kultur'' or ''DKultur'') is a culture-oriented radio station and part of Deutschlandradio, a set of national radio stations in Germany. Initially named ''DeutschlandRadio Berlin'', the station was renamed ''Deutschlandradio Kultur'' on 1 April 2005. The present name was adopted on 1 May 2017. ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services – in particular the introduction of a joint television network. The ARD has a budget of €6.9 billion, 22,612 employees and is the largest public broadcaster network in the world. The budget comes primarily from a licence fee which every household, company and public institution are required by law to pay. For an ordinary household the fee is currently €18.36 per month. 2021 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in Germany on 26 September 2021 to elect the members of the 20th Bundestag. State elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were also held. Incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel, first elected in 2005, chose not to run again, marking the first time that an incumbent Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany has not sought re-election. With 25.7% of total votes, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) recorded their best result since 2005, and emerged as the largest party for the first time since 2002. The ruling CDU/CSU, which had led a grand coalition with the SPD since 2013, recorded their worst ever result with 24.1%, a significant decline from 32.9% in 2017.
