Bilal Al-Droubi
Bilal al-Masatafa al-Miqdad (; died 12 April 2025), also nicknamed Bilal al-Droubi () and Abu Yazan (), was a Syrian rebel commander who served as a member of the Youth of Sunna Forces, appointed head of border security by the Syrian Ministry of Defense in 2025 and whose killing by members of the Eighth Brigade led to the dissolution of that faction in April 2025. Biography Al-Droubi was born in Bosra al-Sham, Syria, into the large al-Mekdad clan, who are native to the city. On 16 August 2016, the brother and father of Youth of Sunna Forces member Mohammed Tohme (an ally of al-Droubi) were attacked in their home by members of the faction, with his father beaten and his brother shot, leaving his brother in "critical condition." Bosra
Bosra (), formerly Bostra () and officially called Busra al-Sham (), is a town in southern Syria, administratively belonging to the Daraa District of the Daraa Governorate and geographically part of the Hauran region. Bosra is an ancient city mentioned in 14th century BC Egyptian sources. A key Nabatean city, it became the prosperous provincial capital of the Roman province of Arabia Petraea following the dissolvement of the Nabatean kingdom. Ahmad Al-Awda
Ahmad al-Awda (), also spelled as Ahmad al-Oda, is a Syrian military officer and former rebel leader who leads the Southern Operations Room. A leader of the rebel Youth of Sunna Forces between 2014 and 2018, al-Awda reconciled with the Assad regime following the 2018 Southern Syria offensive. With the backing of Russia, al-Awda was appointed the commander of the 8th Brigade of the Syrian Army's 5th Corps, a formation primarily consisting of reconciled rebels. He became an influential powerbroker in Daraa Governorate, taking orders from Russia rather than the authorities in Damascus, and became known as "Russia's man in Southern Syria". Anwar Taha al-Zoubi () is a Syrian politician and former military commander. He was appointed Governor of Daraa on 5 March 2025 by Syria's caretaker government, following the fall of the Assad regime. Early life and education Al-Zoubi was born in 1975 in Al-Taybah, Daraa. He studied political science at Idlib University, though he had not graduated as of March 2025.
