Elle-Máijá Apiniskim Tailfeathers (born in 1986) is a Canadian filmmaker, actor, and producer. She has won several accolades for her film work, including multiple Canadian Screen Awards. Born in Cardston, Alberta, Tailfeathers began acting in the late 2000s before embarking on a career as a filmmaker. Bjarne Store-Jakobsen
Bjarne Store-Jakobsen (born 12 January 1944) is a Norwegian politician, activist, and journalist. In 2005, he was elected to the Sámi Parliament of Norway as a member of the Labour Party. He was selected by the Sámi parliament to serve as a representative for the Sami People of Norway at the Working Group on Indigenous Peoples at the Barents Euro-Arctic Council, where he would serve as leader. He served as an advisor for the President of the Sámi Parliament Egil Olli until his dismissal in 2011. He would later leave the Labour Party and serve as the leader of the Sámi People's Party. Prior to his time in politics, Store-Jakobsen served as a spokesperson and unofficial leader for the Sami people protesting against the development of the Alta Hydroelectric Power Station during the Alta controversy. Esther Tailfeathers (born 1960/1961) is a Canadian physician. Raised on Teetotalism, teetotal tribal lands, where she observed her father's struggles with alcohol, she became the medical lead at Alberta Health Services' Indigenous Wellness Core, where she developed ''Indigenous Health Commitments: Roadmap to Wellness''. She married Bjarne Store-Jakobsen, with whom she had a daughter and son, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, and Piinaakoyim Tailfeathers. Early life Tailfeathers was born in 1960 or 1961 and is a member of the Kainai Nation, Kainai First Nation. She grew up on tribal lands, where alcohol is prohibited, and recalls other community members becoming Rum-running, bootleggers to earn money. She recalls at the age of 12 driving her father to the bootlegger's so he could buy gin to help with a hangover. Her father stopped drinking in the early 1980s after a court order to do so. Ánde Somby, born in Buolbmat, Norway, is a traditional Sami joik artist and an associate professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tromsø, specializing in Indigenous Rights Law. Somby has been active yoiker since 1974. He has also been producing records with other yoikers. In 1985 he produced the LP record and MC cassette "Ean Máššan" with his father Aslak Somby (1913–2008) and mother Karen Kristine Porsanger Somby born 1920. in 1991 he produced the record Ravddas Ravdii with '' Inga Juuso''. In 2000 he produced the record "Deh" and in 2003 Deh2 with his uncle Ivvár Niillas. Somby is only one of few Sami with Ph.D. in law (dr. juris). Somby's Ph.D. is titled "Juss som retorikk".
