Asthenini
Asthenini is a tribe of geometer moths under subfamily Larentiinae first described by Warren in 1893. The tribe has been combined with Eupitheciini in the past, most notably by Jeremy Daniel Holloway in his work The Moths of Borneo. Recognized genera and species Critical analysis by Dayong Xue and Malcolm J. Scoble indicated 18 genera that belong to the Asthenini with 1 additional, ungrouped species. The 18 genera recognized by this research are: * '' Agnibesa'' Moore 1888 * '' Anydrelia'' Prout 1938 * '' Asthena'' Hübner 1825 * '' Asthenotricha'' Warren 1899 * '' Bihastina'' Prout 1916 * '' Epicyme'' Meyrick 1885 * '' Eschatarchia'' Warren 1894 * '' Euchoeca'' Hübner 1823 * '' Hastina'' Moore 1888 * '' Hydrelia'' Hübner 1825 * '' Leucoctenorrhoe'' Warren 1904 * '' Macrohastina'' Inoue 1982 * '' Nomenia'' Pearsall 1905 * '' Palpoctenidia'' Prout 1930 * '' Parasthena'' Warren 1902 * ''Poecilasthena'' Warren 1894 * ''Polynesia'' Swinhoe 1892 * ''Venusia Venosa ( Lucano: ) ...

Moth
Moths are a group of insects that includes all members of the order Lepidoptera that are not Butterfly, butterflies. They were previously classified as suborder Heterocera, but the group is Paraphyly, paraphyletic with respect to butterflies (suborder Rhopalocera) and neither subordinate taxon is used in modern classifications. Moths make up the vast majority of the order. There are approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which have yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, although there are also crepuscular and Diurnal animal, diurnal species. Differences between butterflies and moths While the Butterfly, butterflies form a monophyly, monophyletic group, the moths, comprising the rest of the Lepidoptera, do not. Many attempts have been made to group the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera into natural groups, most of which fail because one of the two groups is not monophyletic: Microlepidoptera and Macrolepidoptera, Heterocera and Rhopalocera, Jugatae a ...

Their scientific name derives from the Ancient Greek (derivative form of or "the earth"), and "measure" in reference to the way their larvae, or inchworms, appear to measure the earth as they move along in a looping fashion. Geometridae is a very large family, containing around 23,000 described species; over 1400 species from six subfamilies are indigenous to North America alone. A well-known member is the peppered moth, ''Biston betularia'', which has been the subject of numerous studies in population genetics. Several other geometer moths are notorious pest (organism), pests. Caterpillars The name ...
