Biharsharif Assembly constituency is one of 243 constituencies of legislative assembly of Bihar. It is a part of Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency along with other assembly constituencies viz. Islampur, Harnaut, Hilsa, Nalanda, Asthawan and Rajgir. In 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Biharsharif will be one of the 36 seats to have VVPAT enabled electronic voting machines. 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The Bihar Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases through October–November to elect members to the Seventeenth Bihar Legislative Assembly. The term of the previous Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Bihar ended on 29 November 2020. The election was held in three phases for a total of 243 seats:- the first for 71 seats on 28 October 2020, the second for 94 seats on 3 November 2020, and the third for the remaining 78 seats on 7 November 2020. Deo Nath Prasad
Deo Nath Prasad (Hindi: देव नाथ प्रसाद) was an Indian politician, who served as Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for four terms. He won the assembly elections to become a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1977, 1980, 1990 and 1995. Prasad was a member of Janata Dal, and he held ministerial posts in Lalu Prasad Yadav's cabinet. Earlier, he was given the science and technology ministry by Yadav, however, later he was appointed as Minister for Law. Sunil Kumar is an Indian politician and four times Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly, the incumbent member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Biharsharif seat. He contested 2005 Assembly Election as his first Assembly Election from the Biharsharif seat in Nalanda district and defeated RJD leader Syed Naushadunnabi alias Pappu Khan. 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The 11th Bihar Legislative Assembly elections were held in March 1995, to elect the 324 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Janata Dal got a decisive victory in the state; political manoeuvre ensured Lalu Prasad Yadav's victory in the chief ministership. According to political scientist Sanjay Kumar, this election set a different trend in caste based politics of the state of Bihar, as in this election, there were two main political blocs in the state contesting for power.
