Bigorna
Bigorna (anvil in Portuguese) was a Brazilian website about comics with an almost exclusive focus on Brazilian comics. History It was created in 2005 by editor Eloyr Pacheco, who after a few years left the site, transferring the position of editor-in-chief to cartoonist Marcio Baraldi, who kept the site in operation until 29 May 2011, having published a text by farewell in which he informed that the site would remain online, even without updates, due to the six years of content focused on Brazilian comics. Awards In 2006, the Bigorna website won the Jayme Cortez Trophy, an award intended to reward great contributions to Brazilian comics. In 2009 and 2010, it won the Prêmio DB Artes for Best Fanzine Site. Prêmio Angelo Agostini
Prêmio Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Award), sometimes also called Troféu Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Trophy), is the most traditional comics award in Brazil. It was created in 1985 by the Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP), which still organizes the event today. The award's name pays homage to Angelo Agostini, considered at the time the pioneer artist of Brazilian comics. The event also seeks to take place, whenever possible, on Dia do Quadrinho Nacional ("National Comics Day", in January 30), the same date in which, in 1869, the first episode of the Agostini's sequential art series ''As Aventuras de Nhô Quim ou Impressões de Uma Viagem à Corte'' was published. Prêmio DB Artes (''DB Artes Award'') was a Brazilian award aimed at independent comics organized by Divisão Brasileira de Artes studio and awarded to authors, personalities and works between 2003 and 2010. The award ceremony took place during HQ Festival, a comics festival held annually in Aracaju. Álvaro De Moya
Álvaro de Moya (São Paulo, July 19, 1930 – São Paulo, August 14, 2017) was a Brazilian journalist, professor, researcher, comics artist, illustrator, writer and TV producer. He was one of the pioneers in academic research on comics in Brazil and one of those responsible for the First International Exhibition of Comics, held in São Paulo in 1951 (the first exhibition of comics in Brazil and one of the first in the world). Moya worked on the Disney comics published by Editora Abril, published novel adaptations at the EBAL publishing house, and made cartoons, illustrations and articles about comics for several newspapers. Universo HQ ("Comics Universe") is a Brazilian website about comics and considered the most important Brazilian information source on comics-related news. History Universo HQ was created by Samir Naliato and first aired on January 5, 2000. After six months, he invited the journalist Sidney Gusman to become the website's editor. Gusman also invited Sérgio Codespoti and Marcelo Naranjo to work with them, followed by many different collaborators during the years. Getulio Delphim
Getulio Delphim (born Rio de Janeiro, June 16, 1938) - sometimes Delphin or Delfin - is a Brazilian comics artist and illustrator. He began his career at the age of 15 at Rio Gráfica publishing house as a comics penciller and magazine cover designer. At 18, he was working for the publishing houses Outubro and La Selva. One of his main works was in the superhero's comic book Capitão 7. In 1970s, he stopped working only with comics, dedicating himself to advertising illustration. Eugenio Colonnese
Eugenio Colonnese ( Fuscaldo, 3 September 1929 – Santo André, 8 August 2008) was an Italian-born Brazilian comic artist. Son of a Brazilian mother (who is African, Portuguese and Indigenous) and Italian father, Colonnese moved to Argentina as a child, where he began his career in 1949, working for several Argentine magazines. He moved to Brazil in 1964. Three years later, he created the Estúdio D-Arte with Rodolfo Zalla, with whom he produced several comic books for several Brazilian publishers. Gedeone Malagola (São Paulo, July 7, 1924 – Jundiaí, September 15, 2008) was a Brazilian comics artist and editor. He started his career in the 1940s, drawing for the newspaper ''A Marmita''. He worked for several comic book publishers until he founded his own, Editora Júpiter. Henrique Magalhães ( João Pessoa, August 17, 1957) is a Brazilian professor, researcher, editor and comics artist. In 1975, he created the comic book character Maria, with stories focused on political criticism. Rodolfo Zalla (Buenos Aires, July 20, 1931 – São Paulo, June 19, 2016) was an Argentine comics artist. He started drawing comics while still in Argentina in 1953, but his career gained prominence after moving to Brazil with fellow comic artist José Delbo in 1963. Julio Yoshinobu Shimamoto (born Borborema, May 13th, 1939), better known as Julio Shimamoto or Shima, is a Brazilian comic artist of Japanese descent. He started his career in the 1950s in the superhero comic book ''Capitão 7''. He has worked in almost all comic book publishers in Brazil in 1960s and 1970s, such as La Selva, Taika, Outubro, Ebal, Vecchi, Grafipar, Abril, among many others. His main works are ''Musashi I'' and ''Musashi II'' (2003), about the samurai Miyamoto Musashi, and ''Subs'' (2006).
