Big Valley, Alberta
Big Valley is a village in central Alberta, Canada that is southeast of Red Deer. It is located south of Stettler and north of Drumheller on Highway 56 in the County of Stettler No. 6. History Ranching era Big Valley Alberta began to be settled even before 1910; people realized the value of the rich soil and natural grass known as Prairie Wool. Settlers began cattle farming operations and the town expanded. The Imperial Lease of land south-east of Big Valley consisted of thousands of acres of land owned by Pat Burns. Most of the land became an ecological reserve to preserve its natural flora. Rail era In 1911 the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) began to lay track through Big Valley. The Kishacoquillas Valley, known locally as both Kish Valley and Big Valley, is an enclosed anticlinal valley in the Ridge-and-valley Appalachians of Central Pennsylvania, and is located in Mifflin and Huntingdon counties. Pit River
The Pit River is a major river draining from northeastern California into the state's Central Valley. The Pit, the Klamath and the Columbia are the only three rivers in the U.S. that cross the Cascade Range. The longest tributary of the Sacramento River, it contributes as much as eighty percent of their combined water volume into the Shasta Lake reservoir; the junction of their Shasta Lake arms is northeast of Shasta Dam. The main stem of the Pit River is long, and some water in the system flows to the Sacramento River measuring from the Pit River's longest source. The Pit River drains a sparsely populated volcanic highlands area in Modoc County's Warner Mountains, passing through the south end of the Cascade Range in a deep canyon northeast of Redding. Lakeport is a city in and the county seat of Lake County, California. The city is northwest of Sacramento. Lakeport is on the western shore of Clear Lake, at an elevation of . Nubieber (formerly, Big Valley City and New Town) is a census-designated place in Lassen County, California. It is located at the common terminus of the Western Pacific Railroad and the Great Northern Railway Bieber Line southwest of Bieber, at an elevation of 4121 feet (1256 m). Its population is 19 as of the 2020 census, down from 50 from the 2010 census. History The settlement was established in 1931, when the railroads were built to the place.
