Big Room House
Big room house or simply big room is a fusion subgenre of house music (notably progressive house and electro house) that gained popularity in the early 2010s. Although the term "big room" started appearing in news articles circa 2007, the current state of this subgenre emerged around 2010—12 and was popularized by songs such as "Epic" and " Cannonball". From 2013 on, artists like Martin Garrix, KSHMR, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Afrojack, and R3HAB began experimenting with this sound in their compositions. The genre is generally set at a tempo that falls between 126 and 132 BPM. Songs typically include long buildups followed by an electro-style drop accompanied by the four on the floor kick drums typical of house music. "Epic" is a song by Dutch producers Sandro Silva and Quintino and produced by Silva, Quintino, and Maarten Vorwerk, released on 3 October 2011. It is considered the first true big room house song. The single became a success in The Netherlands by reaching the peak position in both the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Single Top 100 (see charts and certifications). The Roland JP-8000 is an analog modeling synthesizer released by the Roland Corporation in 1996. Overview The Roland JP-8000 was released in early 1997 as part of the first wave of virtual analog modeling synthesizers (VA synths). Others from that period included the Clavia Nord Lead (1995), Korg Prophecy (1995), Access Virus (1997) and Yamaha AN1x (1997). VA synths had the goal of recreating the sound, functionality and user interface of classic analog synthesizers. The JP-8000 was viewed at the time as the modern digital incarnation of the classic Roland Jupiter-8, from 1981. Four-on-the-floor (or four-to-the-floor) is a rhythm used primarily in dance genres such as disco and electronic dance music.
