Big High (album)
Big High is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 2008 by vocalist Mesa and guitarist Ari Joshua, most noted as the guitarist for Arisawkadoria. On bass there is William "Sandy" Dickerson, and on drums there is Barrett Martin. The band recorded one untitled demo at London bridge studio before original drummer Steven Barci left the band to tour with Manx guitarist Davy Knowles and The Back Door Slam. Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees and Mad Season fame joined the band in late 2009 and quickly began recording a self-titled debut album at Seattle's legendary Avast Studios in Ballard Washington. The debut album was released internationally on June 15, 2010 through Burnside Distribution in Portland, Oregon. Back Door Slam
Back Door Slam is a blues rock band started by Davy Knowles on the Isle of Man in 2003–04. The band got its name from a Robert Cray song of the same name. Originally a four-piece, with Castle Rushen High School friends Jamie Armstrong (bass guitar), Ross Doyle (drums) and Brian Garvey (rhythm guitar), the band was torn apart in 2004 when Garvey was killed in a car accident along with their close friend Richie Brookes. Deciding to carry on in Garvey's memory, Knowles, Armstrong, and Doyle reformed the band, with Knowles writing the emotional tribute to his friend & former bandmate, ''Stay'', which was later to appear on an EP and on their debut album ''Roll Away''. The trio recorded two EPs togethers, and played hundreds of gigs on their native Isle of Man before moving to London to live with Knowles's manager, Bob Miller (Corinne Bailey Rae, Christine Collister). Peter Buck
Peter Lawrence Buck (born December 6, 1956) is an American musician and songwriter. He was a co-founder and the lead guitarist of the alternative rock band R.E.M.; he played the banjo and mandolin on several R.E.M. songs. Throughout his career with R.E.M. (1980–2011), as well as during his subsequent solo career, Buck has been at various times a member of numerous side project groups. These groups included Arthur Buck (with Joseph Arthur), Hindu Love Gods, The Minus 5, Tuatara, The Baseball Project, Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3, Tired Pony, The No-Ones, and Filthy Friends, each of which have released at least one full-length studio album. Barrett Martin
Barrett Harrington Martin (born April 14, 1967) is an American drummer and record producer from Washington. He is perhaps best known for his work with the alternative rock bands Screaming Trees and Mad Season. He was also a member of Skin Yard, Tuatara, and Walking Papers, and has performed as a session musician for many artists in a variety of genres. As a producer, he has won one Latin Grammy and has been nominated in two other categories. As an ethnomusicologist, he has produced two albums for the Shipibo Shamans in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, and one album for the Neets'ai Gwich'in in the Alaskan Arctic. Biography Martin was born and raised in Olympia, Washington, and studied music for two years at Western Washington University before dropping out and moving to Seattle to join that city's late-1980s alternative rock scene.
