Ninja Tune
Ninja Tune is an independent record label based in London, with a satellite office in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1990 by musicians Matt Black and Jonathan More, known collectively as Coldcut. The label was established as an outlet for Coldcut to explore a style distinct from that of the mainstream music industry. History 1990–1999 Following a Coldcut tour in Japan with Norman Cook (a.k.a. Fatboy Slim, then of Beats International) the label lifted its moniker and aesthetic from the Japanese TV shows of the 1950s and 1960s based on the Ninja. With their first releases in the early 1990s, Ninja Tune went on to "usher in trip-hop/instrumental hip hop." according to Pitchfork. Juice Aleem
Juice Aleem is an English rapper. Biography After putting years of energy into the Birmingham hip hop scene, Juice's "Ghetto Grammer" freestyle rap sessions started featuring such other future stars as Ty, Skinnyman and MPHO. In 1996 Will Ashon started up his new Ninja Tune-backed label Big Dada and planned a roster of performers. Bandit of Birmingham's MSI/Asylum crew told Ashon about Aleem. Ashon was impressed with the music and agrees to have Aleem on board. This resulted in the first release of the now iconic record label. In 1997 Juice featured on Big Dada's first ever release, ''Misanthropic'', under the pseudonym "Alpha Prhyme", a collaboration between himself and Luke Vibert. Naeem Juwan Hanks, better known by his stage name Spank Rock, is an American rapper and songwriter from Baltimore. He rose to fame with his 2006 album '' YoYoYoYoYo'', which was produced by former group member Alex Epton ( XXXChange). A harbinger of post-millennial alternative rap, the duo became known for its mixing of disparate hip hop and club genres, including Baltimore club, Miami bass, electro music and rock. Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ and music producer. He is a co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer; a member of the supergroup LSD, with Labrinth and Sia; a member of electronic duo Jack Ü, with producer and DJ Skrillex; and a member of Silk City, with Mark Ronson. He founded the record company Mad Decent in 2006, as well as the non-profit organization Heaps Decent the following year. Justin Ingleton, better known by his stage name Bigg Jus, is an American rapper and record producer. He was a member of Company Flow along with El-P and Mr. Len. He is also one half of the duo Nephlim Modulation Systems with Orko Eloheim. History After the breakup of Company Flow in 2001, Bigg Jus formed the now defunct Sub Verse Music and began to pursue his solo career.
