Big Brother (Slovak TV Series)
''Big Brother: Súboj'' (lit. ''Big Brother: Duel'') is a Slovak version of the reality television franchise ''Big Brother''. It aired for only one season from 18 September 2005 to 18 December 2005 on Markíza. In June 2023, Czech TV Nova, video on demand service Voyo and Markíza announced the preparation of a Czech-Slovak version of the program. The Slovak version is based on the original Dutch ''Big Brother'' series produced by Endemol, where a number of contestants live in an isolated house for a certain period of time. Markíza
Markíza (also known as Televízia Markíza) is a Slovak television channel launched on August 31, 1996. The channel was founded by a later politician Pavol Rusko, and is now part of the Central European Media Enterprises (CME). It also operates television channels Doma (since 2009), Dajto (since 2012), Markíza International (since 2016), Markíza KRIMI (since 2022) and Markíza Klasik (since 2024). In 2020, CME was bought out by Peter Kellner's investment group PPF. PPF is therefore the new owner of tv Markíza. TV Nova is a commercial television station in the Czech Republic. It began broadcasting in February 1994 as the first privately held nationwide Czech TV station. Its first CEO was Vladimír Železný. Voyo is a Czech subscription video on demand service owned by Central European Media Enterprises (CME).
