Big Bertha (born Ashley Crawford and legally changed to Bertha Crawford) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by John Byrne, the character first appeared in ''West Coast Avengers'' vol. 2 #46 (July 1989). In American comic books published by Marvel Comics, a mutant is a human being that possesses a genetics, genetic trait called the X-gene. It causes the mutant to develop Superpower (ability), superhuman powers that manifest at puberty.
