''Bifrost'' is a role-playing game published by Skytrex Ltd. (U.K) in four volumes from 1977 to 1982. Description ''Bifrost'' is a fantasy system, fairly complex and derivative of Miniature figure (gaming), miniatures. The rules cover Player character, character creation, combat (melee, mounted, and aerial), magic, demonology, prayer and divine intervention, disease and illness, travel to other planes, etc. Publication history ''Bifrost'' was designed by K. White, K. Minear, S. Johnson, and G. Highley, and published by Skytrex Ltd. Its first volume ''Faerie'' came out in 1977, covering character creation and background rules. The game wasn't playable, though, without at least the second volume ''Combat'' from 1978, which would describe skill use and especially combat; and if players wanted to use magic the third volume ''Magic'', whose publishing year is not known due to a missing copyright notice. Miniature Figure (gaming)
In miniature wargaming, players enact simulated battles using scale models called miniature models, which can be anywhere from 2 to 54 mm in height, to represent warriors, vehicles, artillery, buildings, and terrain. These models are colloquially referred to as miniatures or minis. Miniature models are commonly made of metal, plastic, or paper. They are used to augment the visual aspects of a game and track position, facing, and line of sight of characters. Miniatures are typically painted and can be artfully sculpted, making them collectible in their own right. Don Turnbull was a journalist, editor, games designer, and an accomplished piano and pinball player. He was particularly instrumental in introducing ''Dungeons & Dragons'' into the UK, both as the managing director of TSR UK Ltd and as the editor of the '' Fiend Folio''. Lewis Errol Pulsipher (born January 22, 1951), often credited as Lew Pulsipher, is an American teacher, game designer, and author, whose subject is role playing games, board games, card games, and video games. He was the first person in the North Carolina community college system to teach game design classes, in fall 2004. He has designed half a dozen published boardgames, written more than 150 articles about games, contributed to several books about games, and presented at game conventions and conferences. Early work Pulsipher graduated from Albion College (Albion, MI) in 1973, and earned a Ph.D. in military and diplomatic history from Duke University (1981). ''The Space Gamer'' was a magazine dedicated to the subject of science fiction and fantasy board games and tabletop role-playing games. It quickly grew in importance and was an important and influential magazine in its subject matter from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s.
