Biecz
Biecz () () is a town and municipality in southeastern Poland, in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Gorlice County. It is in the Carpathian Mountains, in the Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie, by the Ropa (river), Ropa River. Due to its rich history, it is often referred to as "little Kraków" or the "pearl of the Carpathians". The many preserved medieval city walls and buildings have also given rise to the nickname "Polish Carcassonne" for both Biecz and the town of Szydłów. By the mid-16th century, the city was one of the largest in Poland. Being a royal city, Biecz enjoyed an economic and social Renaissance during the 14th and 15th centuries which tapered off into a gradual decline starting during the 17th century. Today, it is a small town with a number of historical monuments. __NOTOC__ Gmina Biecz is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Gorlice County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Biecz, which lies approximately north-east of Gorlice and east of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 16,874 (out of which the population of Biecz amounts to 4,585, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 12,289). Gorlice County
__NOTOC__ Gorlice County () is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland, on the Slovak border. It was created on 1 January 1999 as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Gorlice, which lies south-east of the regional capital Kraków. The only other towns in the county are Biecz, lying north-east of Gorlice, and Bobowa, west of Gorlice. The county covers an area of . Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie
The Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie (, Jasielsko– Sanockie Valleys, Jasło and Sanok Valleys, the Jasło-Sanok Basin or Jasielsko-Sanockie Pits) is a mountain range stretching between the Wisłoka and San Rivers in the West Carpathian Plateau and Central Beskidian Piedmont in southeastern Poland. Ropa (river)
Ropa is a river of mountainous southern Poland, a tributary of the Wisłoka. Near the town of Łosie, Gorlice County, the Ropa was dammed in 1994 to create Lake Klimkowskie. Downstream it flows through Biecz and joins the Wisłoka at Jasło Jasło is a county town in south-eastern Poland with 36,641 inhabitants, as of 31 December 2012. Szydłów
Szydłów is a fortified town in Staszów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in southeastern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Szydłów. It lies approximately west of Staszów and south-east of the regional capital Kielce. Szydłów's history dates to the 12th century.
