Bidvest Wits Football Club, (simply often known as Wits University F.C. or Wits) was a South African professional football club from Johannesburg which played in the Premiership the first-tier of South African league football system. It was nicknamed "The Clever Boys" or "The Students" because of the close affiliation with the University of the Witwatersrand. The club was sold at the conclusion of the 2019–20 Premiership season. This after Bidvest confirmed that it had reached an agreement for the sale of the club's top-flight status to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM). Bidvest Stadium
Bidvest Stadium, is a multipurpose sports stadium in the Braampark, Gauteng, Braampark, suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. The stadium has a dedicated field to host football (soccer), football matches with a capacity of 5,000 seats, and other fields to host other sports disciplines. The exact location of the stadium, is at the University of the Witwatersrand, Wits University campus, and it was used as a home ground of Bidvest Wits F.C., Bidvest Wits in the Premier Soccer League. James Bone (born 22 September 1949) is a Scottish former professional footballer, who played as a striker. Jomo Cosmos is a South African soccer club based in Johannesburg that plays in the ABC Motsepe League. The club is owned and coached by South African football legend Jomo Sono. At the end of the 2021–22 National First Division season, the club was relegated to the third tier of football in South Africa for the first time. The Carling Knockout Cup is a South African professional soccer knockout competition which comprises the 16 teams in the South African Premiership. The Carling Knockout Cup is the third of the three main cups administered by the PSL along with the MTN 8 and the Nedbank Cup. The Carling Knockout Cup was first held in 1982 as the Datsun Challenge, and in 2023 under its current sponsored name. Format The format used in this competition is the Knockout Stage phase. Frank McGrellis
Frank McGrellis (born 5 October 1959) is a Scottish retired footballer and coach. He played for Coventry City, Huddersfield Town and Hereford United in England and Wits University in South Africa before playing and coaching at state level in Australia. Playing career McGrellis was born in Falkirk, Scotland, on 5 October 1958. He began his senior career in England, signing for Coventry City as an apprentice before turning professional in October 1976, but didn't make any first team appearances. He was loaned to Huddersfield Town in October 1978 before a permanent transfer to Hereford United in March 1979.
