Bhuragaon is the name of a town in the Indian state of Assam. Bhuragaon is located in Morigaon district. The town is situated on the south bank of the river Brahmaputra. Etymology The place previously known as Pabhakati. But, later the town was changed after the independence of india. Later the name, Bhuragaon derived from Assamese word Bhur (ভূৰ) And Gaon (গাঁও). The native peoples, use this Bhur as a medium of transport. Later, this place came to known as Bhuragaon. Morigaon District
Morigaon district is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India. The district headquarters is located at Morigaon. The ancient place of occult Mayong is located in this district as well as Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. History The history of Morigaon is obscure. One famous traditional ruler of the region was Arimatta, whose history is shrouded in mystery. After Arimatta's death, Jungal Balahu (A Great Tiwa King), his son ruled over the region. Jongal Balahu was ultimately killed by the ''Kacharis'' with a bamboo spear near Kajalimukh. National Highway 715A, commonly called NH 715A is a national highway in India. It is a spur road of National Highway 15. NH-715A traverses between Jagiroad, Bhuragaon and Balugaon in the state of Assam in India. Route NH715A begins at Jagiroad in the Morigaon district.
