Bhootpori
''Bhootpori'' is a Bengali language Indian horror fantasy film written and directed by Soukarya Ghosal, starring Jaya Ahsan, Ritwick Chakraborty, Shantilal Mukherjee, Sudipta Chakraborty and introducing Bishantak Mukherjee. The story revolves around a lonely ghost who is waiting for her emancipation with a belief that humans become ghosts to transform into fairies. Bhootpori is based on the idea of reincarnation which is very much celebrated in Indian popular culture and spiritual texts. The film depicts death not as an end of a life cycle but an intermediate stage of becoming an angel from the mortal of human life. The film was an official selection for Indian Panorama at the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa 2024. Soukarya Ghosal
Soukarya Ghosal (; born 7 June 1986) is an Indian filmmaker, director, screenwriter, illustrator and music composer. He is widely considered for his work in Rainbow Jelly, a food fantasy film for the children in Bengali Cinema. His film Bhootpori starring Jaya Ahsan, was an official selection for Indian Panorama at International Film Festival of India, Goa which also received the Best Screenplay award at 14 Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival in 2024. His first feature film Pendulum bagged three awards in the 4th Radio Mirchi Music Awards Bangla in 2014. Jaya Ahsan
Jaya Maswood (born 1 July), popularly known as Jaya Ahsan, is a Bangladeshi film actress, model, producer and playback singer. Starting her career as a model and, later, as a film actress, she works mostly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films. Ritwick Chakraborty
Ritwick Chakraborty is an Indian film actor who predominantly works in Bengali cinema. He made his debut with Pagal Premi in 2007. Career Chakraborty was associated with Bengali theatre from a very early age. As he grew older he became passionate about acting. Shantilal Mukherjee
Shantilal Mukherjee is an Indian actor associated with Bengali-language theatre and films. Biography Mukherjee was born in Kolkata. He lost his father in an early age. He was admitted in Sarsuna High School from where he passed Madhyamik examination. He passed Higher Secondary Examination from New Alipore Multipurpose High School. Sudipta Chakraborty is an Indian film and television actress who mostly works in Bengali cinema. She received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film ''Bariwali''. 55th International Film Festival Of India
The 55th International Film Festival of India took place from 20 to 28 November 2024 at Panaji, Goa. The theme of this year's festival is 'Young Filmmakers – The Future is Now', so this year a new section and award category 'Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film' has been introduced in the festival to encourage young blood.
