Bhanumati Devi
Bhanumati Devi (15 May 1934 – 4 January 2013) was an Indian film and theater actress who worked in the Cinema of Odisha, Odia film industry. Early life Devi was born in British rule in Burma, British Burma on 15 May 1934. She moved to Puri, Odisha, India, with her Indian family following World War II. Career Devi began acting in the theater in 1942 when she was just seven years old. Some of her best reviewed stage roles were in ''Lakhye Hira'' and ''Napahu Rati Namaru Pati’''. Devi appeared at the Annapurna Theatre in Cuttack for more than forty years. She made her film debut in 1954 in ''Amari Gann Jhia'' when she was nineteen years old. She was especially active in the Cinema of Odisha during the 1950s and 1960s. Devi's was cast in a lead role in more than a dozen Indian films. Some of her most prominent roles include her character, Harabou, in the 1966 Odia film, ''Matira Manisha'', for which she won a National Film Award (India), National Film Award. Sittwe
Sittwe (, ), formerly Akyab (), is the capital of Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma). Sittwe is located on an estuarial island created at the confluence of the Kaladan, Mayu, and Lay Mro rivers emptying into the Bay of Bengal. As of 2019 the city has an estimated population of over 120,000 inhabitants. It is the administrative seat of Sittwe Township and Sittwe District. Names The name Sittwe () is derived from the Burmese pronunciation of Arakanese , meaning "the place where the war meets". When the Burmese king Bodawpaya invaded the Mrauk U Kingdom in 1784, the Rakhine defenders encountered the Burmese force at the mouth of Kaladan river. In the ensuing battle, which was waged on both land and water, the Mrauk U forces were defeated. Cuttack
Cuttack (, or officially Kataka in Odia language, Odia ), is the former capital, deputy capital and the 2nd largest city of the Indian state of Odisha. It is also the headquarters of the Cuttack district. The name of the city is an anglicised form of the Odia language, Odia and Sanskrit name ''Kataka'', which literally means ''the fort'', a reference to the ancient Barabati Fort around which the city initially developed. Cuttack is known as the ''Millennium City'' as well as the ''Silver City'' due to its history of 1000 years and famous silver filigree works respectively. Sangeet Natak Akademi (The National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama in English language, English) is the national level academy for performing arts set up by the Government of India. Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (IAST: Saṅgīta Nāṭaka Akādamī Puraskāra), also known as the Akademi Puraskar, is an award given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama. It is the highest Indian recognition given to people in the field of performing arts. In 2003, the award consisted of Rs. 50,000, a citation, an '' angavastram'' (a shawl), and a ''tamrapatra'' (a brass plaque). Since 2009, the cash prize has been increased to ₹1,00,000. National Film Award (India)
The National Film Awards are awards for artistic and technical merit given for "Excellence within the Indian film industry". Established in 1954, it has been administered, along with the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama, by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals from 1973 until 2020, and by the NFDC since 2021. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in New Delhi, where the President of India presents the awards.
